The three stimulus controls follow different paths.
Sarah Tew / CNET
The proposed payment of $ 1,400 is part of one $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package Which just past the house and they are Democrats push to approve mid March. In addition to dividing $ 1,400 payments to individuals and dependent persons, the lump sum is set to Renew unemployment benefits to add funding for August Distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and possibly the federal minimum wage up to $ 15 an hour
We know how Congress designed the first two payments to help troubled families and boost the economy. By reading the just-passed version of the House Bill (PDF), we also have a good idea of how Congress plans to achieve the same goals with the third checkHere’s how the three controls are similar and different.
No stimulus control is the same as the other
Congress has adjusted the amount and other details of the incentive checks with each round it approves. Although we have many of the proposed details of the third stimulus check, there is one joker. The IRS is in the in the middle of the tax return season, so it’s unclear whether the agency might not be able to do that flip these third payments in a few days, as with the second stimulus payments, or if a delay could occur.
