Two things are assured in life: death and price hikes in streaming services. At least that seems to be the case as we often tell you about a streaming service or another that raises the price without any new features. This time, at least YouTube TV offers an optional price hike with features! Namely 4K streaming and offline watching.
The first question, of course, is “how much does this add-on package cost?”
It’s not clear when the add-on package for 4K streaming and offline viewing will arrive, nor has Google quoted a price. It has another fun advantage: unlimited simultaneous streams on all your devices at home. Currently you can watch three simultaneous streams at home. While Google didn’t say the add-on package requires additional subscription fees, the language suggests it will. After all, why not add it for free?
Most mainstream streaming services offer free offline downloads, it is rare for a TV streaming service to have this feature at all. 4K content often comes at a price, too, so charging extra makes sense.
But we’ll have to wait to find out more, as it’s unclear which channels and content will be viewed 4K and offline. If it is in short supply, it may not be worth the price.
