The IRS has already sent coronavirus stimulus checks to more than 150 million Americans, but if your check has not yet appeared, you are right to wonder if something is wrong. We've identified a number of possible reasons why your payment could be delayed, some of which you might even treat. When and if your emergency response check comes, the money will arrive as a direct deposit to your bank account (if you set up before the close of May 13 ) or by mail (you will receive a paper check or a prepaid card paid by post ).

These relief controls have been approved by the federal government as part of a package designed to help the worsening of the economic consequences of the pandemic . You will not receive a stimulus check if you are not eligible

You are eligible for a stimulus payment if you:

  • are a single U.S. resident and have adjusted gross income less than $ 99,000 .

The IRS started processing your paper check before providing your direct deposit information.

If the IRS was already sending your paper check when you provided your bank details online, you will still receive your check by mail. The IRS said it can usually take 14 days in this situation to receive payment.

The bank details that the IRS has for you are out of date or no longer valid

The IRS said it uses your bank's bank details Tax Return 2018 or 2019 to send your payment. However, some tax preparers set up temporary accounts for their customers to receive their returns, such as on a prepaid debit card. If this is the information the IRS has for you, the service said the payment will be returned and processed again.

Your bank had problems processing the direct deposit
