Action Launcher 101: Change Icon Pack for a Custom Look «Android :: Gadget Hacks

In the end, we all get tired of our home screens. There's nothing wrong with it, but after seeing the same thing hundreds of times, it all starts to look a bit stale. You can rearrange icons and widgets or even just choose a new background – but sometimes your layout is perfect and you still want a fresh look. Thanks to Action Launcher and icon packs, this is very easy to achieve.

By installing an icon pack, you can actually change the theme of your home screen. Each package usually has a unique set of icons for all standard system apps, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Photos, and they usually include dozens more for popular apps like Facebook, Instagram, eBay, and so on. Even if an icon pack does not include one of your apps, Action Launcher Plus allows you to individually theme icons or mix and match icon packs to work around this problem.

Step 1
: Download an icon pack

The first thing you need is an icon pack. To find a good one, go to the Play Store and search for "icon pack", or just tap this link . From there you will see hundreds of choices, so look around until you find the perfect one. When you do that, simply install the icon pack like any other app. Keep in mind that you can install as many icon packs as you want, so the more the merrier.

If you're overwhelmed by all the choices, some of our favorites are Lines Elta and Belle UI and they all offer free versions. Or, if you want a few more choices, you can check out our full review of the ten best free icon packs.

Step 2: Activate the Icon Pack

Next, go to your home screen and open the main Action Launcher settings menu. You can access the settings menu by long pressing the home screen and tapping "Home Settings".

Then tap "Appearance" and then choose "Icon pack". Select the collection of icons you want to use and choose "OK".

Step 3: separate theme icons

As mentioned earlier, some icon packs may not have a specific icon, however they usually contain alternative icons that are not associated with a particular app and you can use them to fill in the blanks. This is also a way to mix and match icon packs based on the image you prefer for your icon.

Individual Icon Theme is an Action Launcher Plus feature, so you will need to purchase the upgrade with an in-app purchase of $ 4.99 to use this feature. If so, go back to the Action Launcher's main settings menu and then tap "Get Plus" in the top right corner. From there, tap "Upgrade to Plus" and confirm your purchase. Once the app is done installing, you will be returned to the home screen.

Then long press the icon you want to change and then tap "Edit" button from the pop-up menu that appears. This will bring up a menu from the bottom part of your screen, so swipe up to see the options for changing the icon.

Among the group labeled & # 39; Icon Suggestions & # 39; is a list of images associated with this app found in the other icon packs currently installed on your device. If you don't like these choices, you can look at the second group labeled "Choose Custom Icon", which will allow you to open a specific icon pack and search the images to find one that suits you.

Anyway, select the icon you want to use with this app and then return to the home screen by swiping down twice, revealing your change.
