One of the most useful things about Shortcuts on the iPhone is that they can be launched using just your voice, thanks to the power of Siri, Apple’s AI assistant. Here’s how to do it.

To launch a shortcut from Siri, you must first have at least one shortcut on your iPhone. To create shortcuts, use the Shortcuts app, which has been included with every iPhone since iOS 1

3. You can also receive them from others if they have been shared via iCloud.

To start a shortcut with Siri, simply say the name of the shortcut. So if necessary, launch the Shortcuts app and change the names of shortcuts you want to use to something easy to say. The shortcuts must have names that are not the same as reserved Siri commands (such as “Play the next song” or “What time is it?”).

Then launch Siri by pressing and holding your side button (or Home button on older devices), or say “Hey Siri” if that feature is enabled.

When you see the Siri balloon, speak the name of the shortcut to launch it.

When the Siri balloon appears, say the name of the shortcut you want to launch. If it is recognized, Siri will immediately run the shortcut and you will see a confirmation message on the screen.

After launching the shortcut, Siri will show a confirmation on your iPhone screen.

If you try to launch a shortcut from the lock screen, Siri will ask you to unlock your phone to continue. Once it is unlocked, the shortcut will run. Very handy!
