Add, use and customize widgets on your iPhone

Have you ever swiped right on your iPhone's lock screen or home screen? That's the Today View screen with widgets from Apple's stock apps. If you want to customize this screen, you can add and customize widgets from third party apps and reorder everything that is already there.

By default, Apple shows you the Weather app widgets, Siri suggestions, Music, Favorites, and more. But that is not everything. When you enter edit mode, you will find that many of the apps you have installed (be it popular apps or indie) have useful widgets.

You can add extra functionality to your iPhone using third-party app widgets. Here are a few recommendations:

To start, swipe right when on your iPhone home screen to access the Today view. Here you can swipe up to see more widgets and tap one of the arrow buttons to expand or collaborate on a widget.

Swipe all the way to the bottom of the widgets screen and tap the "Edit" button to customize the Today View screen.

You will now see a list of enabled widgets on the

In the section More widgets you will find a list of the widgets for apps installed on your iPhone. A single app can contain multiple widgets.

When you find a widget you want to add, tap the plus (+) button next to the widget. It is immediately added to the bottom of the enabled widgets list. Do this for each widget you want to add.

Then swipe to the top of the page and view the enabled widgets. You will probably want to put your frequently used widgets at the top of the list.

To reorder widgets, tap the three line icon on the right side of the screen and then drag each item to reorganize the list.

After adding and reordering widgets, you may want to delete some of Apple's inventory widgets. To do this, simply tap the red minus button (-).

If you are happy with the layout of your widgets, tap the & # 39; Done & # 39; button.

You You will be taken back to your widgets screen, with your new widgets and brand new functionality added to your lock screen and home screen.

When installing new apps, you can go back to the edit screen and add new widgets to the Today view by following the steps above.

In addition, you can add widgets to your iPhone by long pressing the app icons. On the home screen, tap and hold a newly installed app. If it supports widgets, you will see it in the context menu. This is a quick way to use widgets without even opening the Today view.

And if you like the widget, tap the "Add Widget" link to add the widget at the bottom of the Today View screen.

iPads also support widgets, but a little different. You can pin the Today View section directly to the home screen for quick access.
