Pop-up windows are often considered a nuisance on the Internet. But sometimes you need to enable popups in Microsoft Edge for certain websites to work properly. Fortunately, it’s easy to allow popups on all sites or only on specific sites in Edge for Windows 1
Enable popups on any website in Edge
First, open Edge on your Windows PC or Mac. In any window, click the menu button (three dots) in the top right corner. Select ‘Settings’ from the menu that appears.
On the Settings tab, click on “Cookies and site permissions” in the sidebar.
Then scroll down to the ‘Site Permissions’ section and click on ‘Popups and Redirects’.
In the “Pop-ups and Redirects” settings, click the toggle next to “Block (recommended)” to disable it. This makes pop-ups possible on all websites.
Enable popups on certain websites in Edge
If you’d rather only allow popups for specific sites, open Edge and click the three-dot menu button, then select “Settings.” Next, click on “Cookies and Site Permissions” in the sidebar and then select “Popups” and Redirects.
Leave the “Block” switch enabled on the “Popups and Redirects” page. Instead, we only allow popups for certain sites. Further down the page, click the “Add” button in the “Allow” section.
In the pop-up box that appears, type or paste the web address of the site you want to allow pop-ups on, then click “Add.”
Repeat this process with other sites with popups that you want to allow.
Alternatively, you can also go to Settings > Cookies & Permissions and then look in the “Recent Activity” section. Click the arrow next to the address of the site where you want to allow pop-ups.
On that website’s “Site Permissions” page, scroll down and set “Popups and Redirects” to “Allow” from the drop-down menu.
Your changes have already been saved automatically, so when you’re done, close the Settings tab. When you resume browsing, you will see popups on all sites or on specific sites, depending on how you configured Edge above.
If you ever need to disable popups again, go to Settings > Cookies & Permissions > Popups & Redirects again and turn on the “Block” switch or remove site items from the “Allow” list. Have fun browsing!
