Apple released iOS 14.2.1 for iPhone today, Thursday, November 19. The update fixes a bug where some MMS messages may not be received, an issue where the iPhone 12’s mini lock screens stop responding, and an issue where ‘Made for iPhone’ hearing aids would have sound quality issues when playing from the iPhone.
Apple released this update just after 10 a.m. PDT. Interestingly, the software is only for iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, Apple’s latest line of iPhones. If you have another iPhone with iOS 14, you will not see this update on your device.

Interestingly, Apple released another iPhone 12-exclusive update last night. Unlike 14.2.1, this update was simply called 14.2, seemingly identical to the current iOS 14.2 software available on all compatible iPhones. Outlets at the time speculated whether that version of 14.2 contained patches for bugs such as missing text messages, but we now know that 14.2.1 solves that problem.
How to install the latest version of iOS on your iPhone
On your iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max, open the Settings app and go to General -> Software Updates. From here, follow the onscreen instructions to download and install iOS 14.2.1 on your iPhone. If you have Automatic Updates turned on, you can easily have your iPhone update overnight.
