Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is full of weapons that have a place in Norse or British mythology. While it follows a few different threads of Norse history, there are a few British myths that make their way into the game. The creators decided that real Norse and British mythology isn’t enough, so they took some liberties on this topic. However, there are plenty of ways for the myths to come through.
One of the myths players can participate in is Excalibur. While players won’t get the weapon from a lady in a lake (and it gets a little confused with the sword in the stone), it takes a little swimming to get their hands on this elusive and destructive weapon. Finding Excalibur, however, can be difficult. Excalibur has no real prompt or related questline ̵
The Treasures of Great Britain
To unlock Excalibur, you must find 11 stone tablets hidden all over England. The first 8 tablets are hidden in different specific locations where you have to show your parkour talent. These first eight are called the Treasures of Britain and you are awarded 1 skill point for each tablet you find.
The last three tables are owned by three Zealot members of The Ancient Order. Woden, Heike and Hrothgar will be patrolling specific regions of England. Therefore, you should wait to get Excalibur until you feel comfortable beating these three. These boss fights are no joke, so unprepared players will go broke if they try to face them too soon in the game. A little grinding and leveling is the best way to cope with these Zealots.
The first eight tablets
Britain’s first treasure is in the Cavern of Trials, which is on the east side of Cent. Once you arrive, enter the house and look for a ladder that goes underground. Follow the path and use Odin’s sight. This will help you find the Key of Courage hanging on a rope. You will have to grab it in the air, so make sure you time your jump properly.
Once you have the key, open the door and keep moving until you find a circular corridor with a destroyed statue in the center and surrounded by different entrances at different height levels. Each entrance takes you to a different puzzle you need to navigate. They require you to grab more mid-air keys, but with a few minor twists. At the bottom is a series of doors that open the three keys (balance, dexterity, and dexterity) you collect. The next area gives you a pushable crate puzzle. You have to list them to move on to the next section. After doing this three times, you’ll find a stone staircase that will lead you to the tablet alter.
Santlache mine can be found in Suthsexe, and close to Cent’s border. Go through the mine and destroy every barrel you find. At the end of the mine, you’ll find a clue that says “dive where irons thrive.” Go to the water until you see an iron at the bottom. You will find a long underwater corridor, but Britain’s treasure is at the end of the corridor.
The next Treasure of Britain has arrived Grime’s Graves, located southwest of Elmenham. You have to make a Leap of Faith to get into the cave and keep moving forward until you reach the end of the cave. Here you will find different pots just hanging out. Break the jars to find the tablet.
The Old cellar hides a tablet but is also full of poison clouds so be careful when entering. This cave is located southwest of Colcestre. Once you reach the cellar, you can use Odin’s Sight to find the wine barrel locks, which you can shoot to break. The spilled stale wine will cause the water to rise under the grid, moving you to the next tablet.
Wicca Cave is located just west of Jorvik and is a fairly straightforward trail, but easy to get lost in it too. Enter and keep going until you find an open area with a tree on a center platform. Climb the tree and jump right on the wall. Follow the path until you find a T-corridor, and look to the right where there is a dead end. Shoot an arrow at the ice wall and, once it’s broken, keep going until you find a locked door. You can go right where a chicken is hanging out, or left where two angry boars are hiding. However, either direction will reveal a hold on the side of the closed chamber. This allows you to break the door lock by shooting it. Enter to get the tablet.
Go to Red Lichen Cavern, just east of Wincestre, to look for the next tablet. This tablet also requires players to navigate toxic clouds, which can be avoided or burned. Fortunately, this tablet is quite simple. Once you get to the open area, turn left where you will find the very short path to the tablet. Just move quickly or apply fire to make sure you can get out alive too.
Just northeast of Chepeham, it will be full of parkouring, but it is one of the few ways Wocig Cave and the next tablet. Drive the boat until you see a stone staircase. Get out and walk up the stairs, look at the left wall and then climb to the top where you have to do several parkour jumps to reach different platforms. Keep doing this until you see a flashlight. Go through the small entrance and use Odin’s Sight to peek into the room on the left. Then very gently blow in the flammable pots until they are all destroyed. You can crawl under a small crack in the wall that was previously hidden by pots. This will take you to the tablet.
The Deoraby Spar Cave is located in the northern part of Snotinghamscire. Once inside you have to climb to the top platform and go through a crack in the wall. This crack will lead you to an open room with three destroyed statues. First go down the left path so you can safely go to the right side of the room. There is an obscure parkour path that can take you to the north side of the room. From there, climb up the statue and jump to a few more platforms, then head to the tablet room.
Beat Zealots for the last three
It won’t be a joke to beat the Zealots. Make sure you are ready to fight before you run into these enemies. After defeating each Zealot, players are awarded a new Treasure of Britain. Again, it’s probably best to wait until you’re up a bit before facing these bosses.
Woden the Zealot patrols the roads in Cent. Be careful before you look at him as his power is 220. Although he is not as strong as the other two Zealots on this list, he is very fast and uses flash bombs to hide. If you remember to constantly avoid and be patient, you can beat him.
Heike the Zealot is the second strongest, with a power level of 250. Heike roams the roads of Essexe and can often be found on the roads just south of Walden. Make sure to check intersections to make it easier to find. It is equipped with a sword and a heavy shield. He’s fast and hits like a bag of bricks, so dodge whenever you can. He’s also into poison, throwing poison bombs every now and then, and covering his sword with poison. Dodge, parry and fall from afar to say alive during this fight.
The last zealot, Hrothgar, will be the hardest. It can often be found on the roads just southeast of the Suthsexe region. Just wait for the knight to appear. It has a power of 280 and has a few tricks up its sleeve that the other two don’t have. Not only does he come at players with full force and can strike like a monster, but he can also heal himself. This ability can make him extremely frustrating to fight. Always be prepared before looking at him.
Myrddin’s Cave and Excalibur
When you’ve collected all the tablets, it’s time to get Excalibur. However, finding Myrdinn’s Cave can be a bit trickier than most players would expect. Myrdinn’s Cave is located in Hamtunscire and is fairly close to Stonehedge. Watch out for wild bears outside and follow the path.
Enter the cave and complete a few parkour trails followed by a Leap of Faith to find an underwater entrance. Once inside you will find an open space with 11 monoliths and an altar with Excalibur trapped in the middle. Place all tablets in their respective slots to pull out the mythical sword Excalibur.
Due to the Zealot battles and the location of Myrdinn’s Cave, we would avoid entering this cave after collecting all the tablets. Nothing is more frustrating than going to the end of a cave to realize that you are missing something! Wait until you have all the tablets before entering this cave.
Excalibur is a great weapon that any player can have in their arsenal. Excalibur is a two-handed sword with mythical qualities and belongs to the Bear Skill Tree. If you got your hands on it, it’s already upgraded to level 7 and pretty powerful on its own. In addition, the passive effects ensure that Heavy Finishers and Critical Hits blind all enemies nearby. The sword comes with 3 rune slots, giving you more room for improvement. The sword has great stats, showing that it has over 100 attack points and, for players with the Dual Heavy Wielding advantage, it can be combined with another weapon for extra damage. It is definitely a weapon worth seeing.
