The keyboard lighting of Apple MacBooks is useful if you work late at night or in a dark room. But it̵

7;s easy to forget and it can drain your battery. Here’s how to automatically turn off the Mac keyboard backlight after inactivity.

You can set a feature from the System Preferences menu on your Mac that automatically turns off the keyboard backlight after you have not used your computer for a few minutes.

To get started, click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of the menu bar. From there, choose the option “System Preferences”.

Now go to the “Keyboard” section.

On the “Keyboard” tab, click the check mark next to the “Turn off keyboard backlight after 5 seconds of inactivity” option.

Click the “5 Seconds” drop-down box to extend the time limit to a maximum of five minutes.

And that’s it. The next time you step away from your Macbook, the backlit keyboard won’t slurp away from your computer’s built-in battery.

Just switched from Windows and wondering where your Mac’s control panel is? Well, it’s called System Preferences, and here’s how it works.
