You can set a feature from the System Preferences menu on your Mac that automatically turns off the keyboard backlight after you have not used your computer for a few minutes.
To get started, click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of the menu bar. From there, choose the “System Preferences” option.
Now go to the “Keyboard” section.
On the “Keyboard” tab, click the check mark next to the “Turn off keyboard backlight after 5 seconds of inactivity” option.
Click the “5 Seconds” drop-down box to extend the time limit to a maximum of five minutes.
And that’s it. The next time you leave your Macbook, the backlit keyboard won’t suck away from your computer’s built-in battery.
