Bose turns off its noise-canceling Sleepbuds after discovering battery problems that cannot be resolved. Anyone who has purchased the $ 249 Sleepbuds is eligible for a full refund if the device is returned before December 31
Sleepbuds were launched in June 2018 and are designed to help carriers improve the quality of their sleep by blocking external sounds. The wireless earbuds had a good fit and although they were unable to stream music, they could be pre-loaded with "soothing sounds" to help drown out sounds from your environment. When it was time to wake up, the buttons had a built-in alarm.
Although the product was well received with thousands of backers on Indiegogo, customers have reported problems where the battery could not be fully charged and where the device unexpectedly switches off – or both. Bose hoped to address the problems with software and firmware updates, but that was unsuccessful and after further hardware inspection, Bose discovered that the battery he chose for Sleepbuds simply does not work as "consistently or predictably" as it would should.
Now, just over a year since they were first introduced, Sleepbuds are no longer available. As mentioned, people who have purchased Sleepbuds can get a full refund if the product is returned before December 31. However, if you prefer to keep your Sleepbuds, you can hold them and if problems occur, Bose will take care of things through the warranty program.
Bose notes that although the current version of Sleepbuds is not entirely good, the company returns to the drawing board and remains committed to creating a version of Sleepbuds that supports quality people are accustomed to the Bose brand name.
“We are sorry that we disappoint you and we are sorry that we did not communicate more clearly along the way. We had good intentions, but unless that makes a difference to you, it's not enough, & the company wrote in its announcement. "We are ready to hear from you. And we will stay here as long as you need."
