When you first bought your new iPhone or Android phone – or another mobile device – it was given a generic name, which probably reflects the device itself. Smartphone names are needed to distinguish your device from others on a network or connected to your computer. When you connect your smartphone to your PC or Mac via a USB cable, you will see the name of your device. If you have multiple devices, or if you want a more personal touch and want to differentiate between multiple mobile devices, you can change the name of your phone with any name. It is a good idea to give your device a name, because it eliminates uncertainty about which device you use at any time. Here's how to do it with both iOS and Android.
