Common Samsung Galaxy S20 problems and how to fix them



With the release of the Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra by Samsung, three excellent Android smartphones came onto the market. However, even the most exceptional new releases come with a collection of bugs, issues and problems. If you're staring at your Galaxy S20 and wish it would work properly, read on as we explain simple solutions to some of the most common issues you might encounter with the new Galaxy setup.

Problem: Galaxy S20 Ultra screen has a green tint

After Samsung's April 2020 update, some Galaxy S20 Ultra- users have been advised that their screens have a green tint. A user posted a photo and revealed how serious the problem could manifest. The problem seems to be most common when the screen refresh rate is 120 Hz and the brightness drops below 30%. Samsung has started rolling out a firmware update (version G98xBXXU1ATD3) to affected devices. Pending the update, however, you can limit your screen refresh rate to 60Hz as a workaround.

  1. Open the app Settings on your device.
  2. Scroll down to View .
  3. Select Motion Smoothness .
  4. Select the lower 60Hz refresh rate .
  5. Tap Apply .

Problem: Always-on display constantly watchful device

The Samsung Galaxy S20 has a screen that automatically wakes up when lifted. If you find that your device wakes up when it's not supposed to, like in your pocket or backpack, you may want to disable this feature. Alternatively, if the feature doesn't turn on when you want it, make sure it's turned on. Check the current settings by following these steps:

  1. Open the app Settings on your device
  2. Scroll down to Advanced Functions
  3. Select Gestures and gestures
  4. Then enable or disable the Lift to wake function

Problem: Fingerprint scanner does not recognize fingerprints

If you have a problem with the fingerprint scanner on your device, first make sure you have removed the included plastic screen protector as this could cause problems. If you have already removed the protector, first clean the glass on your screen and re-enroll your fingerprint if necessary following the instructions below.       Alternatively, you can lower the screen refresh rate from 120 Hz to 60 Hz, sacrificing smoother animations in an effort to extend the life of the screen. extend battery – again, follow the steps below:

      In some cases, you may need to do a factory reset on your Samsung Galaxy S20. If all other options seem to fail then wiping a device to factory settings may fix the problem. Note that a factory reset is not a guarantee that a problem will be resolved and is best used for fixing unresolved software issues.

      It is critical to ensure that your data is fully backed up before proceeding with a factory reset. All data is lost from your smartphone, including but not limited to text messages, photos, videos and application data. Follow these instructions to perform a factory reset in an attempt to fix your problem:

      1. Open the app Settings on your device
      2. Scroll down to General Administration
      3. Tap the option Reset
      4. Then tap Restore factory settings
      5. Scroll down and press the button Reset
      6. Confirm your passcode, then tap Delete All

      Sometimes even the best of us should ask for help, especially if your device requires hardware or warranty support.
