You can turn on noise cancellation on AirPods Pro by using the force sensor on the stem of the AirPods Pro or by tapping the button in the Control Center. Or you can do it right from the home screen on iPhone or iPad with the Shortcuts widget.

With the Shortcuts widget, you can turn on or off noise canceling (or switch to a different noise control mode) with a single tap right from the home screen.

Shortcuts is Apple̵

7;s built-in automation app for iPhone and iPad. You can use it to create simple or complex automations. In this guide, we will create two different shortcuts, one for enabling Noise Canceling mode and one for disabling it. We will then add the two shortcuts to a folder and add the folder to a shortcut widget accessible from the home screen on iPhone and iPad.

To get started, open the “Shortcuts” app on your iPhone or iPad, and from the “My Shortcuts” tab, tap the “Plus” icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Now choose the button “Add action”.

Search here for the action “Set Noise Control Mode” and add it.

Now tap on the “Route” button.

Select your AirPods Pro from the list (make sure they are connected to your iPhone or iPad).

Then tap the “Noise Control Mode” button.

Here you can select the option Off, Noise Reduction, Transparency, or Ask every time. Choose the “Noise Canceling” option while we create a shortcut to turn on the noise canceling mode.

Now tap on the “Next” button.

Name your shortcut here. You can also customize the shortcut icon. Then tap the “Done” button.

Your shortcut is saved. Now we’ll create another shortcut to turn off the noise canceling mode. And that can be done quite easily with the help of the dual shortcut feature.

Tap and hold the shortcut we just created and choose the option “Duplicate”.

Now tap on the “Noise Canceling” button.

In the pop-up, select the option “Off”.

Then tap the “Menu” button at the top.

Change the name of the shortcut here and select the “Done” button.

Now that we’ve created both shortcuts, it’s time to add them to the home screen. We can do this with the help of the Shortcuts widget available for devices running iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and above.

First, we’ll add both shortcuts to a new folder. To do this, tap the “Select” button at the top of the My Shortcuts tab.

After selecting both shortcuts, tap the “Move” button.

Select the option “New folder” here.

Give the folder a name and choose the option “Add”.

Now that the folder has been created, it is time to add the shortcuts to your home screen.

Navigate to your home screen and tap and hold the empty area of the home screen. Then tap the plus button in the top left corner of the screen.

Choose the app “Shortcuts” here.

Go to the medium widget and tap the “Add widget” button.

Once the widget is added to the home screen, tap it.

Select the “Folder” option here.

Now select the folder we created above.

Return to the home screen and tap the “Done” button to save the home screen layout.

You will now see both shortcuts on your home screen. Just tap a shortcut to turn noise cancellation on or off directly on your AirPods Pro.
