Passwords and payment information were not included in the exposed database, but had to be proactive and ensure that user accounts remain private, Wyze has unsubscribed everyone and reset all third-party connections to his services such as Alexa and Google Assistant.
This is what you must do to lock and secure your Wyze account.
First of all you have to change your password
If you have not already done so, log in again to the Wyze app on your phone and then select the My account . Tap your email address followed by Reset password from the Security section.
You will be asked to enter your old password and then enter your new password twice. Select Save when finished.
Another important note about your Wyze password: if you have used your old Wyze password somewhere else, such as an email account, Facebook or your bank, change that password as well. You may never re-use passwords, and we even recommend that you use a password manager to create and remember strong, unique passwords on your behalf.
Setting two-factor authentication
After you have reset your password, you must enable two-factor authentication for your account. When 2FA is enabled, the company will send you an SMS with any six-digit code that you must enter before you can access your account every time you try to log in to your Wyze account.
It is a commonly used tool for adding an extra layer of security to your online accounts. And althoughif the service – in this case Wyze – only supports SMS codes, this is better than nothing.
Enable 2FA by going back to the My Account section of the Wyze app, select your email address, and then tap Two-factor Authentication . Slide the switch at the top to the position On and follow the instructions. You must add your phone number, and you will receive a text message with a code that you must enter to complete the installation.
Reconnecting with third-party services
One of the first steps Wyze took after the violation was reported by Twelve Security was to revoke all users' connections to Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and the automation website If This Then That. Therefore, you must re-authorize all services that you previously linked to your Wyze account.
Reconnect your Alexa account in the Wyze app by selecting the My Account tab and selecting Works With > Alexa and following the instructions.
To reconnect Google Assistant, open the Google Home app on your phone and tap the + followed by Device setup > Already set something up? > Wyze Home .
Reconnect IFTTT to Wyze by going to this page and clicking or tapping Connect and following the prompts.
If you need a password administrator to better protect your online accounts,. You should also take the time to enable for more than just your Wyze account, .
