Apple is gearing up to release new Mac desktops and laptops with the next generation version of its M1

chip. The computers also get a new design, enhanced connectivity and a faster processor, making them stronger than rival PC makers.

Rumors, coming from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, declare that Apple is unveiling redesigned 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros “already this summer”. Both models will likely have a refreshed chassis and will see the return of the MagSafe magnetic charger in some form or another, as well as an HDMI port and SD card slot.

Gurman also mentioned all the possible new devices we could see. These include “a refreshed MacBook Air, a new low-end MacBook Pro, and an all-new Mac Pro workstation.” There may also be a larger iMac and a more expensive Mac mini. In addition, these will all likely contain chips “that will significantly exceed the performance and capabilities of current M1 chips,” Gurman’s sources said.

These new chips appear to come in two variants, codenamed “Jade C-Die” and “Jade C-Chop,” and they appear to be twice as powerful as the M1 chip. The M1 had four powerful cores, four energy-efficient cores and eight graphics cores. The new chips would have eight high-performance cores, two energy-efficient cores and 16 or 32 graphics cores. Gurman also noted that they will likely have support for a whopping 64 GB of memory (against 16 GB of the M1) and a refined Neural Engine for machine learning tasks.

The current M1 chips are still relatively new and blow previous Apple hardware out of the water, but these new chips look even more impressive. We can’t see what Apple has in store for us right now.
