Disable clipboard synchronization between devices on Windows 10

  Windows logo

With the Windows 10 clip order experience, you can access a history of items that you have copied, pin commonly used items, and synchronize items on all devices. However, if you do not want Microsoft to synchronize sensitive data to the cloud, you can turn it off completely.

By default, clipboard synchronization is disabled. If this is already enabled, you can change the functions of the clipboard in Settings> System> Clipboard. But when you enable the synchronization function, all the text that you copy is automatically synchronized.

Automatic clipboard synchronization between all devices enabled. By accidentally synchronizing sensitive data such as passwords with Microsoft servers, you can disable this feature completely.

Home Users: Disable Clipboard Sync via Registry Editor

If you have Windows 10 Home, you must edit the Windows Registry to make these changes. You can also do it this way if you have Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise if you feel comfortable working in the registry as opposed to the Group Policy Editor. (However, if you have Pro or Enterprise, we recommend that you use the simpler Group Policy Editor, as described in the following section.)

Standard Warning: Registry Editor is a powerful tool and can be wrong make your system unstable or even unusable. This is a fairly simple hack and as long as you follow the instructions, you shouldn't have any problems. That said, if you've never worked with it before, consider reading how you can use Registry Editor before you get started. And make sure to back up the registry (and your computer!) Before making changes.

You must also create a system restore point before continuing. Windows will probably do this automatically when you install the Anniversary Update, but it won't hurt to manually create one – you can always roll back if something goes wrong.

Then open Registry Editor by pressing Windows + R on your keyboard, type "regedit" in the box, and then press the Enter key.

 Press Windows + R to open "Run" and type "regedit" and press the Enter key. "Width =" 650 "height =" 337 "src =" / pagespeed_static / 1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif "onload =" pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon (this); "onerror =" this.onerror = null; pagespeed.lazyLoadImfableAfisibleBaycon);

Navigate to the following key in the left sidebar:

You do not have to log off or restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

To re-enable synchronization between devices for Clipboard, you can return here, find the value "AllowCrossDeviceClipboard" and reset it to "1" or delete it completely.

Download our One-Click Registry Hack

Instead of the register itself To edit, you can download our clipboard synchronization between devices. Download Register Hack. Open the downloaded .zip file, double-click the "DisableClipboardSyncAcrossDevices.reg" file and agree to add the information to your registry. We also have an "EnableClipboardSyncAcrossDevices. reg "added if you want to re-enable it.

These .reg files change the same registry settings that we described above. If you want to see what this or another .reg file will do before you run it, you can right-click on the .reg file and select "Edit" to open it in Notepad. You can easily create your own registry hacks.

Pro and Enterprise users: Disable clipboard synchronization via group policy

If you use Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise, the easiest way to disable Clipboard synchronization on different devices is by using the Local Group Policy Editor. It's a pretty powerful tool, so if you've never used it before, it's worth taking some time to learn what it can do.

Also, if you are on a corporate network, do everyone a favor and contact your admin first. If your work computer is part of a domain, it is probably also part of a domain group policy that at least replaces the local group policy.

The policy change takes effect immediately. You can now close the Group Policy Editor without having to restart your device before the setting is disabled.
