Live photos are one of the coolest features on the iPhone, but these interactive photos take up twice as much space as traditional photos. If you already have limited storage space, live photos can absorb valuable space on your device. So what can you do?
We help you with everything you need to do to turn off live photos & start saving valuable storage space on your iPhone here.
- Open the camera app, make sure you are in photo mode and look at the top of the screen. The Live Photos icon consists of three concentric rings and is highlighted in yellow if it is on.
- Simply tap to turn off Live Photos. You see Live Off appear on the screen and the circles turn white with a diagonal line through it.
- If you ever want to turn them on again, just tap the icon again. [1
Once you have turned it off, all photos that you take in the future become standard still photos, but all previously made Live Photos are still Live Photos.
Apple introduced Live Photos with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and then added more camera effects to take advantage of it in iOS 11.
You can change the frame that appears as the photo and add a variety of effects by Open live photo and tap Edit . If you want to change the frame used as the still photo, move the slider at the bottom with your finger, release when you are on the desired frame and tap Make Key Photo and Ready .
You can share Live photos with other people, but they only animate if the receiver uses an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
