We all love to celebrate our achievements, especially when it comes to earning trophies in the PlayStation ecosystem. With the release of the PS5, trophies are as widespread as ever, but the default setting goes a little too far.
By default, the PS5 records a 14-second video of the last trophy you earned, cluttering your precious hard drive and your media gallery. It’s not that difficult to disable this setting, and in this handy guide, we’ll show you how.
Disable Trophy Videos on PS5
The easiest way to change the trophy video settings is to go to the trophies page of your profile. To do this, click on your profile in the main menu of the PS5. You should see your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen. After clicking on it, a submenu will appear with a few options. You will see halfway through Trophies, so click on it.
This will then bring you to your trophies in PS5, PS4, PS3 and PS Vita games. In this menu, press the Options button on your DualSense.
A menu will appear with the Share settings option. Choose that.
Once you do that, you will be taken to another menu with a few more options. You can change whether the PS5 saves trophy screenshots here, as well as the trophy video settings. If you select Save trophy videos, turns a slider on and off.
If you have trophy videos enabled, you can also change the length of each video – 15 seconds or 30 seconds.
The other way to turn off trophy videos is to visit the system Settings by clicking the gear icon on the PS5 home screen. Then scroll all the way down Recordings and broadcasts.
At this point you will see a list of options, so select the last one at the bottom, Trophies. You will then see a similar menu to the one mentioned above, with an option to disable Save Trophy videos by switching a slider.
Delete saved trophy videos
You should also know how to get rid of those pesky saved trophy videos that were turned on by default. To do this, go to the media gallery from the PS5 main menu and go to Trophies.
Navigate to the video you want to delete and press Options button on your DualSense.
Then scroll down and choose it Select multiple items option.
Here you can choose all the videos that you want to delete at once. After making your selections, navigate to the right and press remove to erase them forever. This will free up some precious hard drive space and hopefully allow you to download more games to your new PS5.
