The latest series to debut in Disney + ‘s impressive slate from 2021

, Bad batch, is a spin-off of fans’ favorite animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series follows a crew of clone soldiers: Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch.

Clone Force 99 is a special commando unit. The clones in the crew – Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, Tech, and Echo – were each designed with “desirable” genetic mutations. Hunter has enhanced sensory capabilities (especially for sensing electromagnetic signals) and is the leader of the team. Wrecker is extra strong and likes a good fight; Crosshair has keen eyesight and expert marksmanship, making him valuable in long-range combat scenarios; Technology has improved mental capacity and intelligence; and Echo, who only survived a previous battle after being captured by turning into a cyborg.

We first got to see the Bad Batch in a handful of episodes in the seventh (and final) season of The Clone Wars series, where they teamed up with Captain Rex and Anakin Skywalker to infiltrate an enemy base. Now, The bad party takes place in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. The show will likely feature the crew taking on mercenaries with little regard for the rules.

Aside from what can be seen in the trailer for the series, not much is known about the show. The trailer reveals Grand Moff ordering Tarkin to find and take down Clone Force 99, as well as Fennec Shand and Captain Rex. There are also rumors that Ahsoka Tano could appear just like in the show The Mandalorian and (of course) will do in the upcoming Disney + series Ahsoka.

Knowing a little bit about the Bad Batch’s history, capabilities and (lack of) respect for authority should be enough information for casual viewers to enjoy the show. However, if you want a better understanding of the group, we recommend watching at least season seven of it The Clone Warsif not the entire series. And maybe you do Attack of the Clones. And Revenge of the Sith (yes, we know that’s a lot, but we swear it’s worth it). Basically just participate in all things Star Wars because it’s all very good including the books.

The bad party premieres on Disney + on Tuesday, May 4 – that is, by the way Star Wars Day – with an astonishing 70 minutes premiere. It will be followed every Friday by an unknown number of new episodes starting May 7.
