Disneyland Resort became one corona vaccine in early 2021 when the Toy Story parking lot served as Orange County’s first vaccine super site on Jan. 14. Here’s the latest on when California Adventure and Disneyland reopen, and how to get a theme park reservation and ticket starting next week.

Disney Parks

Disney’s two California theme parks will reopen on April 30, Disneyland announced March 17. As of April 5, 2021, Orange County has only 3 new cases of coronavirus per day per 100,000 people, with a positive rate of 1.6% on the test results. Those numbers started to fall sharply two months ago; Orange County had 99.7 daily cases per 100,000 people on January 19.

What to know:

  • Accompanied by an amusement park, issued by the state on March 5, Disneyland may reopen if Orange County is in the red or “substantial” low from April 1.
  • Under the current orange layer, which the province was introduced at the end of March, the parks will have a maximum capacity of 25%.
  • Once the province reaches the yellow level, there is a capacity of 35% and an indoor capacity of 25%.
  • All levels – red, orange, and yellow – allow only California visitors to Disneyland. However, California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that April 6 will remove the tier system starting June 15, but will keep the masks mandate in place.
  • To access Disneyland or California Adventure, you need both a ticket and a theme park reservation for the same day.

How to get a Disneyland ticket and reservation

The online reservation system will start on April 12 at 8 a.m.PT, but only for people who had a ticket for a while during the park’s year-long closure (you can check if your Disneyland ticket is still valid from April 9). Ticket sales will resume April 15 at 8 a.m.PT, so anyone can buy a new ticket and make a new reservation from then on.

How to get an amusement park reservation:

  1. Access to the reservation system online – but only if you have a valid ticket
  2. Log into your Disney Parks app to link tickets from your family or friends so you’re all in one group
  3. Select the day and theme park you want to visit
  4. If you plan to jump between the two parks, you can choose which park you want to start your day – you can then visit the other park from 1pm. that day
  5. Check and confirm

No word yet on new ticket prices, but we now know that the parks are open from 9am to 7pm. Disney says you should reserve your theme park before booking a hotel stay to make sure the dates match.

Cast members are back and already testing the rides, with Disney also unveiling expansion plans for Disneyland and California Adventure.

California Adventure’s A Touch of Disney event has now begun

To celebrate California Adventure’s 20th anniversary, Disneyland is currently hosting a limited capacity event. “A Touch of Disney” will take place March 18 to April 19 at California Adventure, with the event now running Thursday through Monday from noon to 8 pm, although no attractions are open for it.

Tickets are $ 75 – including parking, unlimited PhotoPass photos, and a $ 25 dinner card for your food and non-alcoholic drinks – but tickets sold out in less than a day despite Disney adding two more weeks to its event calendar due to high demand . You can keep checking to see if more tickets are being released ‘continuously’ until the experience is over.

A Touch of Disney offers specialty food and drink, Disney characters, merchandise and photo locations. The event coincides with the usual timing of California Adventure’s annual food and wine festival, and it is said that about 1,000 employees were able to return to work. The new Avengers Campus and part of Hollywood Land where the Guardians of the Galaxy ride is located are the only areas of the park not open during the event.

In addition to reopening food spots like Smokejumpers Grill, Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, Award Wieners, and Cocina Cucamonga, California Adventure has six marketplaces for more snack choices. You can also book a table at Carthay Circle Lounge and Lamplight Lounge. Disney has brought some of the foods normally only found at Disneyland to California Adventure, including the Dole Whip from the Tiki Room and the Monte Cristo sandwich from New Orleans Square.

Characters in the park include Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Max, Chip and Dale, Lightning McQueen, Mater, Joy and Sadness.

The California Adventure theme park’s main street area initially reopened on Nov. 19, including Buena Vista Street and parts of Hollywood Land, for dining and shopping. California Adventure’s reopening included all of the Buena Vista Street stores, as well as eateries such as the Carthay Circle Lounge, Smokejumper’s Grill, Award Wieners, Starbucks, and churros and popcorn carts. Those areas have now been ticketed to the general public during the event.

Downtown Disney has opened

Downtown Disney’s retail and dining area reopened eight months ago on July 9 in accordance with California dining and retail opening guidelines.

Between December 2020 and January 2021, Orange County was subject to strict stay-at-home orders as ICU capacity dropped below 15%. Restaurants were forced to close in Downtown Disney and California Adventure, but Governor Gavin Newsom lifted the lockdown orders on Jan. 25.

Currently, all dining and shopping locations in Downtown Disney are open, except locations at the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. To visit Downtown Disney, you can only park in Simba’s parking lot and must undergo a temperature screening, wear a face cover, and maintain a social distance. The area is open daily from 10am to 8pm or 9pm on Saturdays.

Disney opened a new Star Wars trading post in Downtown Disney in mid-February, so you can get your Star Wars merchandise fix while Galaxy’s Edge is closed.

Disneyland cancels and reimburses annual passes

Disneyland announced on January 14 that it will cancel its annual passholder program for the time being.

“Due to the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic and restrictions surrounding the reopening of our theme parks in California, we will make appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort annual passports and discontinue the current program,” Disneyland President Ken Potrock said in a statement.

Disneyland is “developing new member offers” for when it reopens. Those who had an active annual pass as of March 14, 2020 are now referred to as “Legacy Pass holders” and will continue to receive discounts when shopping or dining at Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street at California Adventure for the time being. Legacy Pass holders will also receive early access to the new Star Wars store and Wanda Vision photo op, both of which are coming to Downtown Disney soon.

Why was Disney World allowed to reopen in 2020?

Disneyland initially had one optimistic reopening date of July 17th, 2020, his 65th birthday. It was forced go back to those plans when California declined to issue theme park advice. The state unveiled its original guidelines for the theme park reopening on Oct. 20, which would prevent the park from opening until it was in the yellow tier, with less than 1 daily case per 100,000 people and a positive test rate of 2%.

On the other side of the country, Disney was allowed to reopen the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios in July last year because of Florida’s less strict state and local guidelines.

The Orlando Disney parks have measures for social distance and well-beingincluding temperature surveys, wearing masks, keeping guests two meters away while in line for attractions, and a guest reservation system to limit capacity. Fireworks have also been suspended.

The Disney Springs shopping and dining area has reopened on May 20 with limited parking, fewer entrances, pre-entry temperature screening, masks required, physically distant lines and barriers, fewer hours, no entertainment, and more disinfection and disinfectant. Disney stores and restaurants in Disney Springs began reopening on May 27.

Fired in the amusement parks in the US.

Vacationers aren’t the only ones affected by Disneyland’s ongoing closure. Disney announced on Sept. 29 that it would lay off 28,000 US workers, citing reduced capacity at its theme parks due to social distance requirements, as well as California’s “reluctance to lift restrictions that would force Disneyland to reopen.”

In a SEC filing on Nov. 26, Disney disclosed that it would lay off an additional 4,000 employees, for a total of 32,000.

Disneyland reached an agreement with 11 unions representing its employees on Oct. 14, according to the Orange County Register, so that the land is ready to open immediately as soon as permitted. The California Health and Human Services Agency reportedly sent state health officials to review Disney World in Florida during the first week of October, the Los Angeles Times reported.
