Empty squares fill the control center? Here’s how to delete or fill them up on your iPhone «iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks

Your iPhone’s control center is your main hub for quick access to controls like brightness, volume, Wi-Fi, and Do Not Disturb, but if you’re on iOS 14, there can be a lot of screen space taken up by empty squares. If that wasted space bothers you every time you just want to use your flashlight, there’s a quick way to get rid of those empty tiles for good.

Before we start rooting out those blank spots in the Control Center, let’s understand why these blank tiles show up in the first place.

Home controls have been around for a while, but Apple added additional Home controls in iOS 14 to give you even faster access to your most used HomeKit-compatible smart devices and accessories for the home. More quick access controls means more convenience if you have many Home products that you can access from the Control Center. However, if you̵

7;re anything like me, you don’t have many smart home devices, so the extra tiles just seem to be missing.

To turn these tiles off, open Settings and tap Control Center. Then turn off the “Show Home Controls” toggle to turn off those squares, plus any Home tiles from compatible devices you may have connected to your iPhone. For example, my Apple TV is considered a Home device here, but I like to remove it from the Control Center to rid myself of the rest of the empty tiles.

You can also tackle this issue from the other side of the coin i.e. buy more HomeKit compatible smart home products. Smart bulbs are among these easiest things to use in a smart home, and they can fill those blocks right away.
