Ever wanted to have your own Mars rover? Well, if you have a 3D printer and $ 600, now is a possibility. The new ExoMy rover from European Space Agency is a robot that you can build from the comfort of your home.

The machine is 42 cm (1

6 in) long and is a replica of ESA’s Rosalind Franklin rover, which was scheduled to launch in 2020, but has now been moved to 2022. ExoMy has a face camera that can be customized with different hats to make it’s more fun than it already is.

Instructions, guides, and everything you need can be found on GitHub. The ESA estimates that most people will spend about $ 500 (or $ 600) to build ExoMy. The Space Agency says it will take about two weeks to print everything in 3D.

Despite the high price, the ESA tried to make everything super affordable by using parts that were readily available.

“We focused on making the design as affordable and accessible as possible. It uses a Raspberry Pi computer and standard electronic parts available online and at any hobby store. “

And if you don’t just have $ 600 lying around, you can admire ExoMy from the comfort of your own home thanks to a video shared by ESA (see above).
