As part of Fortnite Season 6, Week 9, players must activate a canyon by purchasing it from a character to complete a challenge. It’s not a difficult task by any means, but there are a few things you should know about this challenge before trying it.
For starters, you need to know which NPCs are selling the rift portals and how to make sure you have enough money to buy them. In addition, it helps to know how the gaps work. In this guide, we’ll cover all of that and more. Here’s how to trigger a fraction by purchasing it from a character in Fortnite.
How to activate Rift
The main hurdle of this challenge is actually buying the ability to use the gaps. As you can see from the map above (thanks, Fortnite.gg), there are plenty of NPCs out there that will give you access to gorges. Any of these NPCs will work, so pick one that’s convenient and stop by for a chat. We recommend that you visit an NPC that is out of the way so you are less likely to run through an enemy player. Plus, working with a team on this can be a huge help as they’ll be able to be on your guard while you’re on your way to the NPC.
The other factor to consider when attempting this challenge is the cost of entering a rift. It will cost you 245 gold bars, so you need to have that much on hand before completing the challenge. There are many ways to get gold bars, including completing bounties, eliminating players, and completing certain quests. If you’re short on bars, we recommend talking to different NPCs on the map. They tend to offer quests – many of which are easy to complete, earning you a handful of gold bars.
To complete this challenge, you just need to purchase access to one canyon. At this point, if you’ve been playing all season, you should be close to the required amount assuming you don’t spend your bars often. Talk to any of the above NPCs and select the option to ‘Activate Rift’.
Doing this will immediately fire you out of a canyon into the sky, making it easy to navigate the map. You won’t spawn as high as when the match first starts, but you will have enough air time to get to nearby areas quickly. You also earn 24,000 XP for your troubles, so it’s worth completing this one.
