Catching fish is probably something you know very well Fortnite, but the XP Xtravaganza Challenges from Season 4 Week 12 take the fishing to the limit. You have to catch fish with a professional rod, as well as explosives – which you may not have done before. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all three stages of this week’s challenges so you can get through them as easily as possible.
Here’s how to catch fish with a professional rod and with explosives in it Fortnite.
How to catch 10 fish with a professional fishing rod
Keep in mind that, as with all XP Xtravaganza challenges, you will need to return to the main menu before starting the next stage. This means that you cannot complete all stages in one game. To get started, head to Craggy Cliffs or Sweaty Sands and find a fishing rod. Fishing rods are plentiful in these areas, so catch 10 fish first as you normally would. Remember to aim for the large groups of fish in the water to get a bite. If you don’t get all 10 in one game, it’s OK – your progress will be carried over to the next match.
After catching 10 fish, start another match and try to find a professional fishing rod this time. They are rare items that can be found in barrels all over the world, but you will probably have an easier time getting your hands on one by upgrading your regular fishing rod. There is an upgrade station at Craggy Cliffs, so after finding a regular fishing rod, gather materials to upgrade to the pro version. You need 100 wood, metal and stones to upgrade to a professional. From here it is the same process – catch 10 fish.
How to catch 10 fish with explosive weapons
Catching 10 fish with explosives is a lot easier than you might expect. You don’t have to spend time looking for a rocket launcher or grenade to get the job done. Instead, you can use a speedboat’s missiles to easily destroy fish. For starters, we recommend landing west of the dock at Sweaty Sands. Here you will find a boat on top of a trailer, so hop in and drive around while shooting fish in the area.
The great thing about this area is that it is usually remote, so it is usually easier to catch fish undisturbed. If for some reason you do run into someone, you can easily take them out with the boat’s missiles. Finally, remember that your entire team takes credit for this challenge, regardless of whether you specifically catch fish or not. As long as someone on the squad does that, the whole group gets the credit. So if you work as a team, you can complete this challenge faster than if you tried it alone. When you complete all three stages, you are done with this week’s fishing challenges and will be rewarded with a lot of XP.
