When the 1.3 trailer was launched, Genshin Impact made a big point of the new Primo Geovishap threat – a larger-than-average Geovishap that players would include in the new update. With a patch full of events so soon after the Hypostasis Symphony activity, all signs pointed to a Geovishap event coming and going in a week. Turns out the new creature isn’t a time-limited event at all, but a different boss that you can challenge when you have original resin to spend. Here’s how to unlock the new monster and how to beat it.
How to unlock Primo Geovishap
Before you can go in and destroy the latest monster to defeat Teyvat, you must unlock the privilege to do so. Unlike most other unlimited bosses in Genshin Impact, Primo Geovishap occurs in his own quest. To start, just head to the new marker between the Golden House (the location of the Childe boss) and Liyue Harbor. There you will find a man who will tell you all about the recent rumblings in the Tianqiu Valley.
Go to the market he puts on your map and you will find a new cave protected by Geovishap Hatchlings. In the deep cave is the legendary Primo Geovishap. Beat it using the tips below, grab the varied loot for 40 original resin, then head back to the scavenger hunter to get some extra rewards. After that, you can fight and claim the Primo Geovishap̵
How to Beat the Primo Geovishap
Geovishaps are infamous Liyue monsters. They can burrow in the blink of an eye, fly across the battlefield at high speeds and shred characters with a spinning combo that’s hard to escape. The Primo Geovishap isn’t that mobile, being many times bigger than its cubs, but that just means that its slower attacks are more of a punch. Here’s how to fight it.
Primo Geovishap, like most bosses in Genshin Impact, has a long initial animation, so do as much damage or setup as you can once you get started. Be careful though: Primo Geovishap will absorb any element it comes into contact with. However, it doesn’t change once included, so if you want to create consistent basic comments, spam it with your chosen element until it changes color.
It attacks mainly with large claw attacks and the occasional signature spider, but depending on the element it absorbs, the rest of its equipment will differ – from fire breath to water-soaked spikes.
Because of its size, you’d think staying behind Primo Geovishap would be the key to avoiding most of the damage. While that may keep you away from his claws and beams, the amount of stamina it takes to get back to his flank when he’s spinning for the most part isn’t worth it. Instead, the best method seems to be ensuring that you have great stamina to exploit a short period of invincibility with each attack. Rely on normal attacks, basic skills, and bursts so you can always dodge incoming attacks quickly.
It seems that no matter what your level, Primo Geovishap has a massive health pool to back it up. It’s not a short fight compared to attacks against other bosses like the Cryo Regisvine, so expect to need a good team composition to deal consistent damage and heal through attacks you can’t dodge.
The key to defeating Primo Geovishap is to shave off massive amounts of his health by countering his Primordial Shower attack. You do this by having your active character protected by a shield when the damage comes in. A shield of any elemental type is sufficient, but a Geo shield or a shield that matches the element of the attack will reflect more damage. If you cannot reliably spawn shields using elemental reactions, consider keeping the ones that do spawn on the field until the boss decides to use this attack.
To predict when Primordial Shower is about to hit, look out for a little text prompt at the top of the screen telling you to foreclose or watch out when the monster jumps backwards on two legs and appears ready to jet. into the ground directly below. You can dodge the attack with a well-timed dodge or Elemental Burst, but shields will certainly save time.
The big advantage of this is that your team composition actually matters in this battle. Don’t assume the Primo Geovishap is like a neutral enemy just because the Geo element reacts to one element in the same way as the other.
If you can bring a Geo adventurer like Noelle, Zhongli, Traveler, or Albedo into battle, it’s generally easier to craft the perfect shield just when you need it. If not, making sure your team is balanced enough to create shields of the same type as the element Primo Geovishap absorbs early in the fight can mean the difference between a long and painful fight and one that continues. plays with little threat.
Whichever way you play it, dodging can wipe out almost anything this boss throws at you, so stop sprinting and limit your charged attack usage.
Primo Geovishap Rewards
Even for 40 original resin, the Primo Geovishap does not share a reward pool with bosses who cost the same amount to claim. It does deliver the new Juvenile Jade that we can expect some future characters will need for upgrades, but it also gives bits and artifacts from every other 40 original Resin World Boss available, making it a wildcard monster you can burn resources on if you are. do not need a particular item.
