If you often work with SVG files, you may become frustrated with the lack of SVG thumbnails in Windows 10. Fortunately, PowerToys allows you to see thumbnails in File Explorer without any problem. Here’s how to set it up
Install PowerToys
To see SVG thumbnails in File Explorer, you need help from Microsoft̵
Then install “PowerToys” and you will be able to see standard SVG thumbnails. You can see them on the desktop, in File Explorer windows, and in the Preview window of File Explorer.
Toggle SVG thumbnails on and off
SVG thumbnails are enabled by default after you install PowerToys, you don’t need to do anything else.
But if you want to disable SVG thumbnails later (without removing PowerToys) or if you have previously disabled and want to enable them, run “PowerToys Settings”. Click on ‘General’ in the sidebar and then click on ‘Restart as administrator’.
When “PowerToys Settings” reloads (you may find it minimized in your system tray), click “File Explorer” in the sidebar and you will see options related to enabling or disabling SVG thumbnails. Click on the options you want to change.
When done, close “PowerToys Settings” and restart your machine. When you log back in, the changes will take effect. Have fun with PowerToys!
