Last year, Savant bought the smart home division of C By Ge and announced a new name: Cync. And in addition to new cameras, plugs and smart switches, the company promised an app makeover. The new Cync app is here and is inspired by Savant̵
If you’ve ever seen a Savant app, from its custom high-end smart homes, the Cync app (on iOS and Android) will probably look a little familiar. It’s a complete makeover from the previous white and blue textless look the app enjoyed before. But it’s not just a lick of paint that Savant has put on the table, the Cync app is also getting new features.
Now you can take pictures of items in your home, such as a lamp, and link them to a smart home device. In the case of a bulb, that would be a smart bulb. The app actually takes two photos, one with the lamp on and off. Then the photo will change to match the correct state – it will even add color if you use a color ball.
The app also retracts scene and automation controls. So you can create a scene that lights up your house and activate that scene when you usually come home. Or you can use the new Cync motion sensor to activate lights when you walk into a room and turn them off when you leave. And you can attach supplied photos to your scenes or create your own. When you adjust colors, the photo adjusts.
The Cync app will be rolled out soon. If you already have the previous C By GE app, the names will be updated and changed automatically.
