If you are using Discord for voice communication, you may need to adjust the audio bit rate to improve the quality of your calls. You can do this in Discord’s settings menu – here’s how.
Change the audio bit rate in Discord on Windows or Mac
If you are using the Discord web player or the desktop app on your Windows 1
When you hover the mouse pointer over the channel name, the channel settings icon will become visible, just like joining the channel directly. Select the settings icon to change the settings for that channel.
By default, all Discord users can access audio bit rates between 8 and 96 kbps (kilobytes per second), with 64 kbps set as the default channel bit rate. However, if you are on a Discord server with enough Discord Nitro boosts, you will be able to access higher bitrate values of up to 384kbps.

In the “Overview” settings menu for your voice channel, move the “Bitrate” slider up or down within the limits available on your server.
Any changes you make to your audio bitrate settings will be applied automatically. After changing the audio bit rate, close this menu by selecting the Close button in the top right corner or by selecting the Escape key on your keyboard.
Change the audio bit rate in Discord on mobile devices
If you are using Discord on Android, iPhone or iPad, you can also change the audio bit rate for voice channels on servers that you own or control.
To do this, open the Discord app and tap the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner.
Make sure to select the correct server, then select and hold the voice channel you want to change from the channel list.
After a few seconds, the “Channel Settings” menu will appear, where you can change the name, channel limit and bitrate settings.
Move the “Bitrate” slider up or down to increase or decrease the audio bitrate quality. When you’re happy with the setting, tap the Save button in the bottom right corner.
If the audio bit rate has changed, join the channel by selecting it from the channel list (if not already done). The audio bit rate you selected will be applied automatically when you join.
If the bit rate is too high (or too low), repeat these steps to change it again.
