Spotify Premium is an indispensable service for people who stream a lot of music, but some find the price of ad-free, impulse-driven listening – $ 10 a month if you are not eligible for a discount – too heavy for their wallets after their one month trial period is up. If that sounds too true, or if you just want to drop the platform in favor of an alternative like Apple Music, we have good news: Canceling Spotify Premium couldn't be easier.
Stay inside before you respond, please note that you cannot download music for offline use when you go to Spotify Free. You also cannot stream audio with a higher bit rate or play a random song when using your mobile device, but instead play an artist, album or playlist in random order. How to cancel Spotify Premium on desktop
The first thing you want to do is start your browser of choice and go to the Account Overview on the Spotify website. It should not be too hard to find, but if you are looking for the fastest route there, click here. If you are not logged in, enter your username or e-mail address and your password and press Log in . If all goes well, Spotify works its magic and you will be redirected to the page you need.
Now you are on your account overview screen, select Subscription from the left sidebar. A box appears with information about your membership. Make a note of the date your subscription is renewed, as you can continue to use premium until after you cancel it. When you have done that, click on Change or Cancel .
Now scroll down and look for the option entitled Spotify for free. It is at the very bottom, above a feedback box, so jump down there. Found it? Great – click the large button Cancel Premium next to it. Now all you have to do is confirm your decision by tapping . Yes, Cancel . Again, remember that your membership is not terminated immediately. You have until the date stated above to continue using it.
How to cancel Spotify Premium via the App Store
If you signed up for Spotify on your iPad or iPhone, chances are that you have opted for Apple you invoice directly via the App Store, instead of the extend the registration process by transferring your credit card details to Spotify itself. It is undeniable that is a lot more convenient but if you take that route, you have to cancel your Premium subscription in a slightly different way with an iPad or iPhone.
So what do you need to do? It's easy. Dive into the application Settings on your iPad or iPhone and then select iTunes & App Store. Did that do? The next thing you want to do is check the Apple ID at the top of the screen – you must ensure that it is the same one you used to register for Spotify Premium. If this is not the case, select the email address, press Sign Off and log in with the correct Apple ID.
Now that you are all sorted and using the correct account, tap the email address again (or for the first time, if you are logged in at the correct address), then select Subscriptions . A list appears with all your different recurring payments. Simply select Spotify and then tap the button labeled Cancel subscription . As soon as you click on it, the renewal of your Premium membership will be terminated.
Remember for the last time that you would continue to use Premium until the date that your next payment was due. That means that if you canceled on September 3, but your membership is not scheduled until October 2, you can use it until then. Most importantly, when the clock hits 12 o'clock on October 2, your account will be downgraded to Spotify Free, indicating the end of the Premium subscription. That's all there is!
