How to Close All Google Chrome Windows at Once

Google Chrome Hero

While browsing the web with Google Chrome, you can easily get carried away and open dozens of windows filled with hundreds of tabs. Fortunately, it is easy to close multiple Chrome windows at once on Windows, Linux and Mac. Here’s how.

To quickly close all your Chrome windows in Windows or Linux, click the vertical ellipses button (three dots) and select ̵

6;Exit’.

You can also press Alt-F and then X on your keyboard.

In Chrome, click the menu button and select

On a Mac, you can close all your Chrome windows at once by clicking the ‘Chrome’ menu in the menu bar at the top of the screen and selecting ‘Exit Google Chrome’.

You can also press Command + Q on your keyboard.

On a Mac, click on it

With Chrome on the Mac, if you have “Warn about shutdown” enabled, you will see a message saying “Hold Command + Q to shutdown” when you press Command + Q. So you have to hold down Command + Q for a moment for the stop process to take place.

(Oddly enough, Chrome immediately quits without this warning if you hit Command + Q while all your browser windows are minimized to the Dock.)

Hold Command + Q to quit Chrome on Mac.

After that, all your Chrome browser windows will be closed quickly.

If you want to get your windows back, you’ll find them in your history when you restart Chrome, unless you’ve configured Chrome to clear the history when closing or have permanent incognito mode enabled. Have fun browsing!
