The Kindle has been a hugely influential player in the modern rise of e-books and mobile reading platforms. This allows you to pack a lifetime of literature in one frame that weighs less than 5 grams. But what happens if you decide to prefer to view your Kindle files as PDFs on your computer, or if you would like to use another device that does not support native e-book formats, such as AZW or MOBI?
There are several useful tools to help you quickly convert files purchased from Amazon to a format that can be viewed on any number of PDF-supported devices. Below are two great examples of conversion software, along with detailed instructions for converting a Kindle book into a PDF file.
Download the AZW files first
For both software options, your Kindle requires required books in AZW format instead of the new KFX format that Kindles is now using. You can obtain the AZW file by logging in to your Amazon account on your computer or laptop. Go to Your account and select Manage your content and devices . Where is Show top left, choose Books and then tap the three dots on the left next to the desired title or titles and choose Download and transfer via USB . You will be asked to choose one of your Kindle devices and the AZW file will be downloaded to your computer.
Note : Caliber now offers a plug-in called the KFX Input plug-in, which allows you to import KFX files as well. Go to page two for more information.
