Over time, your iPhone’s contact list can grow quite a bit. Before you know it, you’re forever scrolling through a huge number of people you never call or text. The list grows even longer when you add other accounts to the device, such as Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook.
In this guide, we will show you how to delete contacts on an iPhone. Deleting one contact is easy, but to get rid of multiple contacts, you need to use online or a third-party app. We offer four ways to shorten that contact list for 2021.
Delete one contact
If you need to delete one or two contacts, this is the best route. Unfortunately, you cannot delete more than one contact at a time. If you want to delete a handful of contacts, go to the next section.
Step 2: Tap the contact you want to delete.
Step 3: Crane Edit displayed in the top right corner.
Step 4: Scroll down and tap Delete contact.
Step 5: Press Delete contact pop-up balloon to confirm.
Step 6: Repeat these steps for the next contact.
Delete multiple contacts at once
Since the Contacts app doesn’t offer the ability to delete multiple contacts at once, you’ll need to open a desktop browser (not mobile) and visit the iCloud website. Apple offers a tool to delete multiple contacts at once, but it is somewhat hidden.
Step 1: Go to iCloud.com in a desktop web browser and sign in with your Apple ID credentials.
Step 2: Click to it Contacts web application.
Step 3: Keep the Ctrl button and click on all the contacts you want to delete. They should all appear in the panel on the right.
Step 4: Click on the gear icon in the lower left corner. This opens it Settings menu.
Step 5: Select remove in the pop-up menu.
Step 6: Select remove again in the pop-up window to confirm your action.
Delete the contact list from a specific account
One of the drawbacks of adding multiple accounts to your iPhone, such as Gmail and Yahoo, is that their contact lists converge in the Contacts app. The result is a long list of possibly multiple entries from the same contact. To narrow down this list and get rid of those unwanted entries, you can turn off contact sync for each account.
Step 1: Tap to open Settings.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap Contacts.
Step 3: Crane Accounts on the next screen.
Step 4: Please select one Account.
Step 5: Tap the switch next to Contacts to delete the contacts list of that account from your iPhone.
Note: For contacts in Apple’s cloud, you need to tap iCloud followed by iCloud again to access it Contacts switch.
Use the third-party Groups app
If you’d rather not hassle with Apple’s iCloud website or disable individual accounts, there is a third-party app that makes deleting multiple contacts easy. It’s free to use, but you have to pay $ 10 to unlock all the features and turn off the ads.
Step 1: Install the Groups app from the App Store.
Step 2: Allow groups to access your contacts.
Step 3: Tap on All contacts displayed at the top.
Step 4: Tap on it Circle next to each contact you want to delete. This circle turns red with a white check mark.
Step 5: Crane Choose action mentioned above.
Step 6: Crane Delete contacts from the drop-down menu.
Step 7: Crane Delete from my iPhone in the pop-up window to confirm.
