Perhaps it is because of the multiple PR nightmares. Maybe it's because you just have a car and don't need a strange driver anymore. For whatever reason, you have decided that Uber is not suitable for you. Well, we're here to show you how to say goodbye to the ride service once and for all.
Fortunately, it is relatively easy to delete your Uber account from the app, but there is a small catch. You can first deactivate your account, but after 30 days of inactivity, the Uber technical team will permanently delete your account. You should know this.
Delete Uber via the app
Step 1: Start the app and make sure you are logged in to your account.
Step 2: Tap the menu icon indicated by three horizontal lines in the upper left corner of your screen.
Step 3: Once the menu appears, tap Settings .
Step 4: Then tap Privacy .
Step 5: Then tap Delete your account, which should be at the bottom of the resulting menu.
Step 6: Uber will ask you to verify your password before you can delete your account. Type it in and tap Verify .
Step 7: You will be sent to a page where Uber tells you that your account will be deactivated and deleted within 30 days. It also shows you how many journeys you have made with Uber. Click on Continue .
Step 8: You will be asked to share details about why you chose to delete your Uber account to complete the process. . It is no longer necessary to complete this form, but if you want to share your grievances about the company, feel free to show it all. If you prefer not to do that, tap Cancel .
Step 9: Uber then offers you another chance to cancel your cancellation. Tap Delete to confirm your decision.
Uber currently only allows you to delete your account from the app, but if you experience problems using the above method you can ask Uber for help as follows on your desktop.
Get help from Uber
Step 1: Navigate to the Uber Accounts and Payment Options page, scroll down and click I could not delete my account .
Step 2: At the bottom of the next screen, click on Log in to get help . If you are already logged in, proceed to step 4.
Step 3: Enter your e-mail address or telephone number, and click Next . You will then be asked to enter your password and if you have never logged in to your Uber account with your web browser, Uber may be able to have you verify your account via text.
Step 4: After you have logged in, you will return to the I could not delete my account screen where you encounter the problem you are experiencing can type and click on . A Uber representative will eventually contact you, but in the meantime you can always go on to something new .
