The Apple Watch may be a great smartwatch, but it can also save your life . Apple has built-in fall detection in the wearable, which can call 911 and alert your emergency contacts in case you are involved in an accident. Here's how to set everything up.
Turning on fall detection
When you first set up your Apple Watch, you should have been asked if you want to turn on fall detection and emergency services. If you haven't enabled the feature (or want to make sure you did), start opening the & # 39; Watch & # 39; app on your iPhone.
If you can't find the app on your iPhone, swipe down on your home screen and use Apple & # 39; s Spotlight search to find "Watch."
Scroll down on the "My Watch" tab and select "Emergency SOS".
Tap the switch next to "Fall Detection". If you do this, 911 and your emergency contacts will be notified that you might have been injured and did not respond to an Apple Watch alarm.
You can also enable fall detection from your Apple Watch. You can do this by clicking on the Digital Crown> Settings app (gear icon)> SOS> Fall detection. Enable the option if this was not yet the case.
Setting emergency contacts
To be able to warn your loved ones about a possible accident, you must set emergency contacts. You can do this from the "Health" app on your iPhone.
Again, if you can't find the app on your phone, swipe down on the iPhone home screen and use your Spotlight search to find "Health."
Then tap your avatar in the upper right corner of the app.
Scroll down and select the "Medical ID" option.
The Medical ID menu shows all the emergency information you have provided about yourself. To add a new emergency contact, tap the "Edit" button in the upper right corner.
Scroll down to the "Emergency Contacts" section and select "+ Add Emergency Contact." You can also choose the red "-" icons next to the other emergency contacts to delete them.
Find a contact in your phonebook and select which phone number you want to mention for the emergency contact. Then choose the relationship of the contact with you. If you do this, first aid workers can identify close family members.
After adding the emergency contact, tap & # 39; Done & # 39 ;.
Your emergency contacts are now being saved. If you fall and 911 is called, your emergency contacts will also be contacted along a GPS location so that you can be found.
