We are currently recruiting for two full-time positions: an Associate Technology Editor and an Associate Commerce Editor. Do you want to throw your hat in the ring? Then read on and discover more!

Associate Technology Editor: Full Time, Remote

Are you an experienced writer and editor who enjoys working in a fast paced, remote environment and managing a group of freelance writers to ensure we deliver the highest quality content? This might be the job for you!

In short, we are looking for a geek geek and a solid writer / editor. You must have experience working with and writing about computer technology (Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone, Chrome, etc.), and be able to keep abreast of new technological developments. You should also feel comfortable editing our other writers and coach them to help them become better writers.

What you would do

  • Work with freelance writers to make sure articles are accurate and well-organized, match what̵
    7;s actually assigned or pitched, and answer any additional questions the topic raises. Essentially making sure that the idea that was pitched is what was ultimately written and that it is a quality piece of work.
  • Assisting our editor-in-chief in guiding articles from pitch / assignment to the idea generation phase and concept phases. You will help writers find the right angle in their ideas, outline outlines, edit the concepts of those articles, and guide writers through any necessary revisions.
  • Write your own articles from time to time if the topic is appropriate.

Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in writing on various technologies
  • Practical experience working with major operating systems (desktop and mobile) and applications, as well as a solid knowledge of general technology
  • Ability to dive into and learn new technology topics quickly
  • Ability to work one on one with writers to design their articles
  • Experience writing and editing technology articles
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-oriented, with a ‘get-things-done’ attitude
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • To be able to work independently and together as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with working in WordPress is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of SEO principles is a plus

About the job

  • This job is one temp-to-permanent positionDuring the first evaluation period, which can take up to 3 months, we offer $ 25 / hr to 40 hours / week.
  • Benefits include:
    • 401 (k): Employer match up to 4%; are eligible after 3 months of full-time employment.
    • Health insurance: Insurance plan for medical, dental and visual expenses.
    • Paid holidays: We offer the following paid holidays: New Years Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
    • Non-redeemable PTO (holidays and sick days): The company offers 120 hours of non-exchangeable PTO annually for combined paid vacation and sick pay. The employee is allowed to bring only 80 hours of non-redeemable PTO each calendar year.
  • Remote work. You work from home and have your own computer with reliable internet access.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the US, located in the US, and available to work normal East Coast (EST) business hours.

Salary: $ 50,000 a year

Associate Commerce Editor: full-time, remote + office work

While we don’t need in-depth experience with computer technology, we do expect a basic understanding of the landscape (Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone, Chrome, etc.). You should also feel comfortable editing our other writers and coach them to help them become better writers.

What you would do

  • Ensuring that articles are accurate and organized, match what has actually been assigned or pitched, and answer any additional questions the topic raises. Essentially making sure that the idea that was pitched is what was ultimately written and that it is a quality piece of work.
  • Assisting our editor-in-chief in guiding articles from pitch / assignment to the idea generation phase and concept phases. You will help writers find the right angle in their ideas, outline outlines, edit the concepts of those articles, and guide writers through any necessary revisions.
