The redesigned iMac for 2021 includes an “exclusive” new screensaver reminiscent of the iconic “Hello”
Start by opening Finder on your Mac. You’ll find a shortcut to Apple’s built-in file explorer in the dock.
Then, with the Finder window open, click the “Go” tab in the menu bar at the top of your screen. From there, select the “Go to Folder” option.
Type or copy and paste the following file path into the text box that appears:
Click on the “Go” button to continue.
You are now in your Mac’s screen saver menu. As long as you are using macOS Big Sur 11.3 or later, you will find “Hello.saver” in the list of options. Drag the file to your desktop.
Then navigate to the Desktop folder in Finder or locate the screen saver file on your actual Desktop.
Before you can add the screen saver to your Mac, you must rename the file. To do this, right-click on the file and choose the option “Rename”. We have changed the name to
Note: If you don’t rename the screen saver file, your Mac will display an error stating that it is already installed. This is despite the fact that the Hello screensaver does not appear in the display settings of your Mac.
You can now double-click on the screen saver file. A message will appear asking if you want to install it on your computer. Select the “Install” button.
While you are installing something and making changes to your computer, you must authenticate yourself securely. Do this by typing in your Mac’s password or using your Apple Watch (if you have that feature set up). Click “OK” to complete the installation process.

The 2021 iMac screen saver “Hello” is now installed on your Mac or MacBook. If the screen saver settings page did not load automatically, you can locate it by navigating to System Preferences> Desktop & Screen Saver and switching to the “Screen Saver” tab.
Select and highlight the “Hello” option from the list to make this your Mac’s default screen saver. You can also click the “Screen Saver Options” button to adjust the appearance.
From the pop-up window, you can switch between three different themes (Soft Tones, Spectrum, Minimal, or a combination of all three), choose to have the ‘Hello’ phrase spell out in multiple languages, and adjust the screen saver to match the look of your Mac.
Click the “OK” button to save any changes.
Finally, see the Hello screensaver in action by clicking the Apple logo in the top left corner of your Mac or MacBook’s screen and then selecting ‘Sleep’.
