How to Get Your Cyberpunk 2077 Refund

After more than eight years of development, CD Projekt Red̵

7;s ambitious futuristic sci-fi role-playing game, Cyberpunk 2077, is here. And it has problems. The game launched with many unresolved bugs, leading to dramatic performance issues on Sony’s older PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, both from 2013. Furthermore, the game has even struggled with new, expensive devices, including Microsoft’s. Xbox series X and those of Sony PlayStation 5, both of which retail for as much as $ 500.

But if you’ve already coughed up $ 60 or more just to make the game disappointed, CD Projekt Red has made the unusual decision to accept refunds.

CD Projekt Red encouraged anyone seeking a refund to go to Microsoft and Sony if they purchased the game digitally. Other retailers have refund policies you can use too. Below is a list of merchants and links to their forms and refund pages, as well as phone numbers you can call.

If you run into any issues, CD Projekt Red says to contact them until December 21st at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com. Note that this is for Christmas for all the Santa Clauses out there.

Microsoft Xbox digital store

If you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or Xbox One, you can request a refund through the company’s website. Microsoft said these refunds will be available “until further notice. Usually Microsoft allows this refund within 14 days.

Sony PlayStation digital store

If you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally on the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 Pro ($ 430 at Amazon) can request a refund through the company’s website. Sony has also withdrawn the game from sale, “until further notice. “

Valve’s Steam

If you purchased the game from the Steam PC marketplace, you can request a refund through the company’s website. Steam’s refund policy allows you to return a game within 14 days of purchase, and only if you’ve played the game for two hours or less. It’s likely Valve will give Cyberpunk owners a bit more leeway, but mileage may vary.

Amazon

Amazon offers up to 30 days to return a video game, although it may charge a 100% restocking fee. You can initiate a refund by going to your account order history or by contacting Amazon directly.

Best Buy

The retailer, who normally does not allow refunds of opened games, will allow refunds for some opened copies of Cyberpunk 2077 through December 21st. However, it only allows returns for the versions of the game running on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from 2013.

If you have a steelbook version of the game, you will need to return that too.

You can bring the game to your local Best Buy store, or you can return it by mail. You can also call Best Buy at (888) 237-8289 or contact the store on the Internet.

If you wish to return another version of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red says you must contact helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com by December 21st.

Walmart

Walmart usually doesn’t allow a return of open video games unless it is a direct exchange of the same game if the disc is corrupted or some other problem. You can contact Walmart by clicking the blue “Contact Us” button at the bottom of the page. You can also call Walmart at 1-800-925-6278. If Walmart does not accept your return, CD Projekt Red will tell you to contact us at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com by December 21.

GameStop

GameStop usually does not allow a return of opened video games unless it is a direct exchange of the same game if the disc is damaged within 30 days. GameStop has reportedly told employees that they will not accept refunds of opened games. If you come across that, CD Projekt Red says to reach out to helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com until December 21.

GOG (formerly Good Old Games)

GOG may be the easiest to deal with as it is owned by CD Projekt Red. The company has a special application form for Cybperpunk 2077 on its site and says it will respond to requests within 24 hours.
