No Man’s Sky is the space experience players wanted to try. With over 18 million planets to visit, it’s a sandbox-style game that lets you travel through galaxies, make alien friends, and even find your wealth. The universe is your traveling oyster. However, making money is one of the most important parts of creating the best foundation, upgrading your items, and buying the best stuff.
But make money No Man’s Sky may take some time. You start with empty pockets, but you can quickly increase your income. We have a few ways to help you become a space billionaire.
Currency in No Man̵
There are currently three primary currencies in it No Man’s Sky. You will have the chance to earn Units, Nanites and Quicksilver and exchange these things for great perks. Each type of currency is picked up in different ways, so getting the money together can seem confusing.
Units are the most basic form of cash in the game. If you are just starting out, you will quickly realize that of the three currencies, this one seems to fill up the fastest. Nanites are the second most common, but not common enough to easily make millions. They are a bit more difficult to find, but what you can get to trade them is better than with Units. Finally, there is Quicksilver, arguably one of the most sought after currencies. Quicksilver can be used on the Space Anomaly and you can pick up great customization, decorations, and even the start of a living ship with Quicksilver.
Obtaining these three currencies will vary a bit. There are a few overlaps as to where to earn each currency, but you can choose how you want to get rich.
One of the best ways to earn any of the three types of currencies is to do missions in the Nexus. When you first visit the Space Anomaly, you will see a giant cube in the center of the landing zone where players seem to gather. This cube, the Nexus, is one of the best places to pick up missions to earn some cash.
Doing Nexus missions is also the only way to earn Quicksilver. Sure, you’re lucky enough to have an NPC pay you in Quicksilver from time to time, but most of your Quicksilver income comes from running missions (alone or with other players) from the Nexus. Each Nexus mission shows you what you win, so finding one with a Quicksilver reward won’t be difficult. Each reward mission is approximately 450 Quicksilver plus one additional item. You will have the chance to do about one Quicksilver mission per day, but keep your eyes peeled for events. Occasionally, No Man’s Sky organizes events where you can do more than one Quicksilver mission.
In addition, Nexus missions have missions that reward you in Nanites and Units. Picking up and completing these missions is a great way to find new planets and galaxies while also making a quick buck.
The agent of the mission list
If you’re traveling through the galaxy, it’s best to stop at any space station you come across – not just because you can unlock the warp path there and come back anytime, but it’s a great way to make some quick cash . The space stations have several ways to make some quick money.
One of the first places to visit in a space station is the mission list agent. This man is on the right; it is located in the usually blue box on the same side as (and usually next to) the Galactic Trade Terminal. The quest list agent has a variety of quests you can complete for some quick cash. The missions themselves aren’t usually difficult, and frankly, they can feel repetitive when you put it on the farm. However, it is a great way to make some money.
If you stop agents at each space station on each mission, you will also notice that they have different (sometimes overlapping) missions. That’s because different factions (Korvax, Gek and Vy’keen) all run the different Space Stations. You can complete any missions you want which is a great way to make money. If a Korvax Space Station and Crazy Space Station want to do the same thing, you can get twice the money if you do both missions at the same time.
Mission List Agent missions usually pay out in units, but occasionally pay out in Nanites. If you’re using a particular currency, pay attention to the mission rewards. And pick up the missions you can actually complete.
Galactic Trading Terminal
While on the space station it can also be good to visit the Galactic Trade Terminal. This small terminal is the perfect place to buy important items that may be difficult to find in the system. It’s also a great place to buy and sell things to make some quick money.
The Galactic Trade Terminal will display items special to that galaxy. The first few items you sell are usually things you may not be using. You can stop at a terminal and buy the rare items it has, then travel to the Galactic Trade Terminal of another space station and sell the items for an increased price. The reason the cost would increase on any other terminal is because each item in the terminal is marked based on the rarity in each galaxy. So let’s say a Korvax space station is abundant in holographic crankshafts. You could buy the terminal’s stock of crankshafts and sell it in a space station that has the holographic crankshaft marked to make a profit. It’s actually one of the best ways to make Units quickly.
The Galactic Trade Terminal works more like a stock market, so be careful when buying and selling here. You could inadvertently crash the stock market on that space station. However, it is not that you could not go to another space station after that.
And if possible, look around different terminals before selling things. Since each galaxy will get a different price for different items depending on the abundance of the item, you can compare the prices before selling them.
Guild of envoys
If you’re on the space station, stop and talk to any guild envoys. These guys are usually in the green desk, right next to the mission list agent. While you can only do this once per space station, stopping and speaking with the Guild Envoy pays off nice rewards.
Occasionally, he’ll even let you pass Nanites or Units for your travels. It may not be a lot of income at once, but every little bit counts. And if you stop at every space station, that income can add up very quickly. It’s easy to make money and not much of a problem if you have to stop at a space station.
In our experience, guild envoys in Korvax galaxies are more likely to pass out nanites than any other fraction. However, this could be a coincidence, so make sure to keep trying different guild envoys!
Buzzing pouches, whispering eggs and ancient bones, oh my!
While exploring, you may have found a small icon indicating a buzzing bag or whispering egg. These items always get a high price at space terminals, and you can really get the Units by picking up these bad guys and selling them. Buzzing pouches are easy and simple to grab. You can find them inside or at the mouth of caves and pick them up easily.
Whispering eggs requires a little more tact to pick up. Once you detonate the whispering egg, countless biological horrors will awaken and haunt you. One of the best ways to get a whispering egg is to build four walls around the egg before breaking it open. This way you can stand in your makeshift room with the whispering egg, break it open and pick up the Larval Core while the biological horrors run around outside your box. But maybe wait until you have a strong jetpack or good multi-tool weapon before doing this just in case.
And if you find a planet that has a lot of buried old bones, they come at a high price. If you are lucky enough to get to a planet with old bones and need some units, make sure to pick these up!
Space pirates and a better reputation
Keeping space pirates is another great way to make a quick buck. When in space, you will receive a threat warning. Assuming you don’t have the space police after you, it will generally be a warning of a space pirate. Shooting pirates will give you different cash rewards depending on their “wanted” level. However, if you take out even a pirate with one star, you will get about 10,000 units. It’s a fun way to get in a fight and make some quick money.
Taking out space pirates not only makes money; it also increases your reputation with the galaxy. By increasing your reputation in each galaxy you will receive different rewards. The better the reputation, the better the reward. Simply talking to NPCs at Space Stations and Trading Posts can also help build your reputation. Make sure to talk to everyone and, if possible, give each suitable faction its own artifacts. Give Crazy artifacts to Geks, Korvaxs cubes to Korvaxs and Vy’keen weapons to Vy’keens to increase your reputation and rewards. You can even get Nanites or Units as a reward.
Don’t forget to upload scanned data
One of the nice things about space exploration No Man’s Sky scans living things, plants and minerals on every planet. However, any scanned item can be translated to Nanites. After scanning, make sure to check out your Discoveries menu. To get there, press Options on your controller and scroll with R2 or L2 to Discoveries. You must navigate to the main menu of the Discoveries section by pressing THEThis way you will see a list of every planet you have visited. At the top you see one Up arrow in a circleClicking on this will upload everything.
Remembering to upload is important as it will pay you out in Nanites. Each upload is worth five nanites, so scanning eight things on a new planet will earn you 40 nanites. Remembering to upload your discoveries will help you raise more money quickly and easily.
