There are times when it’s not possible to look at your Apple Watch, but you may still want to know the time. Here’s how to make your Apple Watch tap the time with a simple gesture.
Apple Watch comes with a feature called Taptic Time. You can read the time using haptic feedback on your wrist. Once it̵
The Taptic Time feature comes with three different vibration modes:
- Numbers: This mode alternates between long tap and short tap. One long tap for ten hours, short taps for each subsequent hour, long taps for each ten minute interval, and short taps for each additional minute.
- Short: Short mode offers a long tap for every five hours, a short tap for every subsequent hour, and a long tap for every 15 minutes.
- Morse code: If you are a fan of Morse code, you can use this mode to tick the time in Morse code.
To set up this feature, press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch and tap the “Settings” app.
Select the option “Clock” here.
It’s important to note that this feature won’t work if your Apple Watch is set to speak the time. So first tap the switch next to the “Speak time” option to turn the feature off.

You can also use the Talk Time and Taptic Time functions together. If your watch is in silent mode, it will start tapping the time. If it’s not in silent mode, it will speak the time instead.
To set the Taptic Time function, scroll up the “Clock” menu and choose the “Taptic Time” option.
Tap the switch next to Taptic Time to enable the feature. Then choose a mode. As indicated above, you can choose between ‘Numbers’, ‘Short’ and ‘Morse Code’.
Now that the feature is on, go back to the watch face and tap the screen with two fingers to see the time using taps on your wrist.
