Apple has finally divided iOS between the iPhone and iPad, making iPadOS for the company's popular line of tablets. Although the new operating system is not noticeably different from iOS, there are some interesting changes that can tempt you to upgrade, including widgets.
Android has long supported widgets; iOS has them too, but you have to swipe right and then scroll down to reach them. With Today View on iPadOS, the widget window is at the front and center of the home screen. Here you can read how you can adjust that display.
Navigate Today View
Operate the Today View panel with a series of subtle gestures that you can easily overlook. Scroll up and down in the widget window to switch between the different widgets set on the home page. Individual widgets can then be entered with a tap.
To remove the panel from view, swipe down on Today View while holding your finger on the screen. Today, View must be replaced by an empty space. If you have pinned widgets, they will remain while the rest of Today View disappears. Return the entire panel by swiping up where the panel was.
If you do not want to see the Today view, scroll down the widget window and select Edit. Here you can switch the switch next to Keep on Home Screen.
If you now swipe to the left, the Today View panel will disappear completely and the remaining apps will fill the space. Return the panel at any time by swiping to the right.
To change the widgets in the panel, scroll down and tap Edit. Add widgets by tapping the green plus sign next to each entry in the More widgets section. All items that you add are listed in the Favorites section.
Available widgets include Apple & # 39; s calendar, email, music, news, notes, reminders, shortcuts and TV apps. Third-party widgets are also available through Chrome, Firefox, Google Maps, Outlook and others.
Once widgets have been added to your Favorites list, they can be moved to determine their order in Today View. Hold down the hamburger icon () and drag the widgets in the correct order.
To remove an item from the favorites, tap the red minus sign and then tap Delete. Or drag them to More widgets.
Pin favorite widgets
An important addition to the widget system for iPadOS is the ability to pin a widget at the top of the Today view.
On the Edit screen, drag a widget from the Favorites section to Pinned Favorites. If there are multiple items in Pinned Favorites, you can use the hamburger icon () to change their order in the Today view.
Once you have docked widgets, you can swipe down from the home screen on Today View and these items will remain at the top of the screen.
