If you’re like most people, charge your phone while you sleep. Instead of manually putting your Android phone into silent mode every night, we’ll show you how to automatically mute it while charging.

First, download the Google Clock app from the Play Store if you don’t already have it.
Open the “Clock” app, then tap “Bedtime” in the bottom toolbar.
Then select ‘Get started’.
It will ask you to set a wake-up alarm. Tap the minus (-) and plus (+) icons to choose a time. Tap the days of the week on which you want to use the alarm.
There are some additional options on this page if you are creating an alarm, but for the purposes of this guide, we just need to choose an alarm time. Tap “Skip” when you are done with this step.
The Clock app will now ask you to set a bedtime. As before, use the minus (-) and plus (+) icons to adjust the time, then tap the days of the week you want this to happen.
If your device now has Digitial Wellbeing, you will see “Bedtime Mode” on this screen. This is where we freeze your phone while charging. Select the option.
Tap ‘While charging before bed’ where you’ll see the wake up and bed times we chose in the previous steps.
Below that, you want to turn on Do Not Disturb. This will ensure that notifications are muted while your phone is connected during the chosen time window.
That’s all we need now. Tap the back arrow icon in the top left corner to return to the previous screen.
Select the “Done” button to finish.
To get the best out of this feature, make sure that “Do not disturb” mode is set. Unfortunately, this process varies greatly from device to device, but we have a guide to Google Pixel phones.
If all these settings work together, your phone will mute at night when you charge it, but important notifications will still come through. That is a win / win situation.
