Telegram is great for sending messages to individuals and large groups. You can add an extra layer of security to Telegram with a passcode, fingerprint or Face ID. Here̵
Telegram has an app-based passcode lock. This passcode lock must be set individually on each device. The passcode is not synced between your devices and is not linked to your Telegram account. If you forgot the passcode, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the Telegram app.
You will get all your Telegram chats back if this happens but you will lose all secret chats. The messages are deleted because they are not synchronized with Telegram’s servers, but are stored locally on the device.
Protect Telegram messages with a passcode on Android
You can protect your Telegram app with a passcode and fingerprint on Android. To set it up, open the Telegram app on your Android smartphone, then tap the three-line menu button in the top left corner.
Select the option “Settings” here.
Now select ‘Privacy and Security’.
In the ‘Security’ section, tap ‘Passcode Lock’.
Enable “Password lock” to enable the function.
Then create a four-digit numeric passcode. Then enter it again to save the passcode.
The access code is now active.
You will now see that the “Fingerprint unlock” feature is enabled by default. You can turn it off if you don’t want to unlock with your fingerprint.
By default, telegram is automatically locked only after one hour. You can tap the “Auto-lock” option to change the time from 1 minute to 45 hours.
From here you can also disable the feature if you prefer. When you are done, tap the “Done” button to save it.

From here you can turn the feature off or choose from a one-minute to five-hour timeline.
You can also manually lock the Telegram app by tapping the lock icon at the top of the “Chats” screen.
