Most of us have had a cloud-connected address book for years. The result of this is an ever-increasing list of contacts that is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate and manage. With the increased size of our contact lists, it becomes more important to sort contacts in the way that works best for us.
The last names are more specific than the first names. In my contact list I have many Joes and Chrises. An easy way to fight the Joes series that appears when I go to the & # 39; J & # 39; go, is by sorting by last name instead. Alternatively, your primary device might be a work phone and you think of people by their last name. Or maybe you are an OG like my grandmother and you prefer to arrange your address book with the last name. Anyway, it's pretty easy to do.
Sort contacts by last name
Open the Contacts app, then tap the hamburger button (three lines) in the top left corner and choose "Settings". Now tap on the "Sort by" button, a pop-up appears and you can choose how you want to sort your contact list. Select "Last Name."
When you return to the Contacts app, your contacts are now sorted by the last name of each person. If a contact person does not have a surname in the information, their first name is indexed instead. So, Joe will still appear under the "J" category until you add his last name.
