With in-game photo mode becoming the new standard, players are taking more screenshots than ever before. Games like Spirit of Tsushima and recent episodes of Assassin’s Creed have invested heavily in their screen-grab mechanics, giving players unique ways to frame and capture in-game images, which they can then share with friends or a general audience.
On the PlayStation 4, you can take well-timed photos by pressing the Share on the controller and even save your last 15 minutes of in-game recordings. The PlayStation 5 takes things to the next level, giving you more control over the recording and recording process. Here’s What You Should Know.
How to take a screenshot on PS5
: Open the Create menu
You use the Create button on your DualSense controller to capture in-game footage. The button is located to the left of the trackpad. It’s in the same place as it Share button on the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller. Pressing the button pauses the game / app you are currently using and opens the creative menu.
From here you can take a screenshot, record video and view previously captured clips or images. The Create button effectively combines parts of the media gallery with the creative menu. You can also link your PS5 to your Twitch or YouTube channel and start streaming from the Creative menu.
Step 2: Take your screenshot
After opening the Creative menu, you will first be asked to take a screenshot of everything currently visible on your screen (you should also see a small camera icon in the bottom center of the screen).
The photo will be saved as JPG or PNG depending on your settings. You can change these settings at any time through the creative menu. press the Create button, and you will see a Options tab on the far right. You can also take a quick screenshot by using the Create button until a notification appears in the top right corner.
Using the media gallery / editing photos
You can edit your recently taken screenshots directly from the creative menu. Click on the brush icon to edit your photos. You can also share, favorite or delete the same photo by clicking the appropriate icon. While editing, your options are limited to cropping and adding text. You can change the color, font, and position of your text if you want, but it still requires intensive editing in third-party apps like Photoshop. You can easily transfer your data from the media gallery to an external storage device.
You can share your screenshots or video clips via the curved arrow button in the media gallery / creative menu. Link your Twitter, YouTube and PSN accounts to post live directly from your PS5 console.
