Do Not Disturb Mode on Your iPhone is a great way to get peace of mind. While you can schedule it every night, there are times when you want to temporarily enable Do Not Disturb mode.
Do Not Disturb mode automatically silences all calls and notifications. But if someone calls repeatedly, they can be passed just like your favorites through the Phone app.
You can control Do Not Disturb mode directly from the Control Center on your iPhone. Apple has added a new customizable Do Not Disturb feature in iOS 1
Swipe down on your iPhone from the top right corner of the screen. If you have an older iPhone with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
Here, in the Control Go to the Do Not Disturb icon (crescent) in the center. Tapping the icon turns on or off Do Not Disturb mode. But instead press and hold the Do Not Disturb button until a menu pops up.
Here are some options to choose from:
- 1 hour: This option turns Do Not Disturb mode after 1 hour automatically switched off.
- Until Tonight: Do Not Disturb mode will be disabled in the evening.
- Until I Leave This Location: Do Not Disturb mode is disabled when you leave the location. Useful if you forget to manually turn off Do Not Disturb mode after you leave your office or a meeting.
- Until the End of This Event: If you have an event in your Calendar app, you will see this option. Do Not Disturb mode is disabled once the time of the event has passed.
If you have not set the Do Not Disturb feature to automatically turn on at night, you can tap the Schedule button to and configure the options for Do Not Disturb mode.
Choose one of the options and then return to the Control Center. You'll see a crescent moon icon in the status bar and a notification on the lock screen telling you that Do Not Disturb mode is on.
If you want to disable Do Not Disturb mode at any time, just go back to the Control Center on your iPhone and tap the icon again "Do not disturb".
Apple does not have a selective filter for Do Not Disturb mode. But if you want your immediate family to contact you no matter what happens, you can use the emergency bypass feature to get them to bypass Do Not Disturb mode.
