Facebook & # 39; s Rival Zoom is here. The social network is now rolling out Messenger Rooms, a video calling service that allows you to chat with up to 50 people at a time. You don't even have to be a Facebook user to join.
Messenger Rooms borrows a lot of features from comparable video chat platforms. For example, you can use virtual backgrounds like in Zoom, apply effects and filters to your face, share your screen with others during the call, lock your chat room like in Houseparty, and more.
You can now create Messenger rooms worldwide through the Facebook Messenger app on your Android and iOS smartphones. However, users in North America can only create a chat room from the main Facebook app.
To open Messenger Rooms on your PC, you must download the Messenger app from the Microsoft Store or the Mac App Store.
Please ensure that the app you use on any of the above platforms is updated to the latest version to create Messenger Rooms. If you just enter a room and don't create one, you can do this by opening the link to the room shared with you via a web browser.

As a privacy measure, the creator of the room must be present for the conversation to begin. Videomakers can also remove individual participants at any time.
Once you have all your participants in the room, you can tap the people icon on your screen to open the call settings. Here you can choose to close the room so that no more participants can enter. You can also add more participants by using the & # 39; Share Link & # 39; option. select in this menu, remove individual participants by pressing the 'Remove' button. next to their name or tap & # 39; End Room & # 39; tap to remove all participants at once and deactivate the video call link (see image above).

Using Messenger Rooms on Facebook
As we mentioned earlier, creating Messenger Rooms is currently only possible in the US via the main Facebook app. After updating the Facebook app to the latest version, you should see a prompt for creating Messenger rooms in your news feed. You can start and share Messenger Rooms in the Facebook app through your news feed, groups or event pages.
The video chat options here are largely the same as Messenger, except for a few settings. This way the link sharing settings will remain the same and you can choose who comes to your room in the same way as Messenger. However, unlike Messenger, you can schedule when you want your room to go live through the "Start Time" setting. This can be very useful if you are organizing a live concert or webinar using the service.

Using Messenger Rooms on Desktop
To use Messenger Rooms to share your screen with other participants, you need to download the Facebook Messenger app on your Windows PC or Mac.
The Desktop app is of course more useful if there are a large number of participants in a room and you need a larger screen to view them all at once. You can create Messenger Rooms directly from your desktop app. However, you cannot use filters, effects, virtual backgrounds or call scheduling through the desktop version of Messenger.
So that's all you need to know about using Facebook's new Messenger Rooms service. If you are unable to add up to 50 people to your room, the option may not be available to you yet. However, Facebook says it has started pushing the feature worldwide and it should be available to everyone soon.
