Google Assistant is a handy companion for your Android smartphone or tablet. To really get the most out of Assistant’s hands-free features, make sure it can work even when your device is locked.

If you’re not concerned about this potential privacy issue, you can allow personalized results when your device’s screen is locked. You don’t need to unlock the device to hear or see Google Assistant responses.

Open the Google Assistant app on your Android phone or tablet by saying “Okay, Google” or by swiping in from the bottom left or right corner.

Swipe from the bottom left or right corner.

Then tap the Snapshot icon in the lower left corner. The Assistant user interface may look different depending on your device.
