Hybrid smartwatches have become quite popular for those who want to track their daily activities but may not be interested in are all features on their wrist. Fossil's hybrid smartwatches are some of the best you can buy, and a Fossil smartwatch app is available – called Fossil Hybrid Smartwatches – so you don't have to rely too much on adjusting your watch's settings.
What is the Fossil smartwatch app?
The Fossil Hybrid Smartwatches app is the smartphone app for all Fossil hybrid smartwatches. It's the app you want to download right away after you take your new Fossil hybrid watch out of the box. It allows you to view your daily activity and sleep customize notifications, set alarms and change shortcuts on the watch face.
Make sure you download the right app. There is also an app in the Play Store called Fossil Q Legacy, which is simply an outdated application used for older Fossil products such as fitness trackers.
You can download the Fossil Hybrid Smartwatches app for Android and iOS from the links below. Which devices are compatible with the Fossil smartwatch app?
All Fossil hybrid smartwatches are compatible with the Hybrid Smartwatches app . (No surprise.) The full Fossil smartwatches with Wear OS, including the Fossil Gen 5 series, don't work with this app. The full list of compatible watches can be found below:
How to use the Fossil smartwatch app
There are four main parts of the Fossil smartwatch app, each of which is pretty simple. The first page is the home page, where you can see your activity statistics. A series of Apple Watch-style activity rings can be found at the top of this page, showing your steps, active minutes, calorie burn, and sleep.
Below that you will find individual pages for each of these metrics, where you can see more detailed metrics split into daily, weekly and monthly time frames.
You can adjust the complications of your Hybrid HR watch face by going to the Customization tab. (Besides, I only have a Fossil Hybrid HR with me, so your customization options may vary depending on which watch you own.)
Fossil includes a handful of preset complication settings for travel and fitness, but I'd recommend just the set complications the way you want. There are only four. Just tap the complication you want to change and select from the list that appears at the bottom of your screen. The full list of complications includes your heart rate, date, chance of rain, second time zone, calories, battery, weather, steps and active minutes.
Tap the small pencil icon on the watch face to change the background design of the watch face. There are a few preset options here, or you can add your own photo to give your watch more personality. If you follow this route, I recommend using a photo that you don't mind being distorted. The e-ink display has a fairly low resolution, so really all photos of people or pets will be darkened. Moreover, the complications get in the way.
You can also customize the physical shortcuts on this page. Tap the shortcut you want to change again, then choose from the list of shortcuts at the bottom. Available shortcuts include: training mode, wellness dashboard, music controls, stopwatch, past notifications, timer, weather and travel time.
Oh! This is important. Once you're done, click the black check mark in the top right corner of your screen after making your changes.

You can set alarms, manage smartphone notifications and move alerts from the alerts page . If you click on the alarm box, you can make a note for that alarm, set it to repeat, and set the time. In the Calls and Messages section, you can choose from whom you receive calls on your wrist.
Click the Apps section to choose which apps notify you. All apps are disabled by default, but you can enable notifications for just about any app you have installed on your smartphone.
The Profile tab is sort of a catch-all for all other settings. Here you can edit your profile picture, height and weight. You can view your activity and sleep data, set step goals, manage connected apps and update the software of your connected watch.
It really doesn't get any easier than that – the Fossil smartwatch app is relatively bare compared to some other smartwatch apps.
